Why Do Barber Shops Have Blue And Red Striped Poles?
The late Bill Marvey, one of the world's last remaining manufacturer of barber poles, shared his expert opinion in a 1981 article. He explains: The symbolism of the barber pole goes back to the barber/surgeon of the Middle Ages. In addition to cutting hair, he'd pull teeth, let blood, use leeches, lance boils. He'd hang his bandages out to dry, and they'd blow in the wind and twist around red and white together. If you needed dental work, enemas, or wound surgery during this time, the barber/surgeon was the man to visit. A pole painted red and white (to represent blood and bandages) was an advertisement to potential patients. This apple barbeque chicken has such an amazing flavor. For the best results marinade the chicken the night before. This dish is great for the holidays, but it is not too difficult for a family dinner. Troubles With Warranties
The other day when I was doing and update on my computer and doing a restart caused my fan to go poof. I called Staples were I bought it and was told that if I had a warranty (thank god I have a 3 year extended) I could bring it in and they would repair it free of charge. Well, I thought that was great and then was informed that it would take approximately 10 business days to have it sent out and fixed. Now, tell me folks, how many of you could live without your computer for that long, that is 14 days with the weekends included. So I called my local repair shop, who I might add are awesome people and they told me that for about 40.00 I could get the fan replaced and the computer cleaned of all dust and debris. Well it was a heavy decision as whether to take it there and void the warranty but my friends and family members here on Fubar one out. My computer will be ready to be picked up tomorrow morning. With that being said, I will be back as of sometime tomorrow...woooooooo hooo

I Hurt Myself Today
I tried to hurt myself today and only got caught. Things sank back to the way they were before, pop a pill and it will all get better, write it down so its not flooding your head like the million other thoughts that race and collide inside my mind. I have a slight problem with stress management. I cannot manage stress anymore. I didn't used to have a problem. Tuesday
Another day of meetings ... almost one after another. And then tomorrow my boss said he wants to come down and visit with me in the morning. I wonder what he wants. He can be so demanding sometimes. Well... off I go to get into the shower and then off to my first meeting with 2 other managers for a breakfast meeting. Then to another meeting to decide who we will have for our chairman of our fund raising campaign this January. And then there is another meeting after that and again this evening. Oh... and I need to make some calls to set up a time for another meeting later this week. I spend more time in meetings now than I do on the hospital floor working with patients now it seems.

Linguine Alla Carbonara
Ingredients: 1 lb dried linguine 1 Tbs olive oil 8 oz rindless pancetta, chopped 4 eggs 5 Tbs light cream 4 Tbs freshly grated Parmesan cheese salt and pepper Method: Bring a large, heavy-bottom pan of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the pasta, return to a boil and cook for 8-19 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottom skillet. Add the chopped pancetta and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, for 8-10 minutes. Beat the eggs with the cream in a small bowl and season to taste with salt and pepper. Drain the pasta, reserving 1 cup of the pasta water, and return pasta to the pan. Tip the contents of the sikillet, then add the egg mixture and half of the Parmesan cheese. Stir well. If sauce is too thick, add some pasta water to desired consistency. Serve immediately, sprinkled with the remaining Parmesan cheese. Serves about 4 people. (squisito)

Two Killed In Head-on Crash
Swanton, Vermont - November 26, 2007 Two people were killed in a head-on crash in Swanton Monday morning. Police say James Charron, 19, was headed east on Bushey Road when he crossed the center line and hit an oncoming pickup truck. The driver of the truck, Joseph Plante, 80, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Wanda Plante, 86, later died at the hospital of her injuries. Charron and his passenger were taken to the hospital. Police are investigating whether Charron was speeding. The accident happened just before 11:30 a.m. Vt. State Police in St. Albans would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash at 802-524-5993.

For the most flavorful meat, get a smoked and salt-cured country ham. Before baking, put the ham in a pot of water and bring it to a boil. Well today has been a fucking blast.... For the past couple of days I have been haveing back and chest pains that I thought it was caused by me sleeping wrong. Well it wasn't. Get this shit, I went to the hospital after work this morning since I was getting sick of the pain, mind you that it wasn't very painful but a dull throbbing pain tends to irk me. So I went in and was seen at once. I'm thinking wow I don't have to wait, must be dead, Ehhhh WRONG!!! I was rushed in to go strip and wear that funky gown and lay on a bed to get an EKG done first. I Need Surgery!!!
So0o I have recently found out some news that I am not very happy about. I have only told 3 people (my bestest friends) other than my family until now. I decided that I should go ahead and let everyone know. As many of you know in 2004 I was injured at work. I was on Worker's Comp for 2 years. I was told I needed to have a surgery on my back that would cost 75grand. And at that time (Aug-Sept 2005) I was rated at a 14% Impairment. However, I decided not to have the surgery because I was afraid it wouldn't help, but only make it worse. So, I settled my case. While I did get a significant amount of money it apparently was nowhere near enough! And this is why: I woke up Monday morning to find my left foot swollen and a redness around my ankle. I kept an eye on it all day. And throughout the day it became more and more swollen, very very painful in my calf and my foot went completely numb. Som Bad News...
Went to the eye doctor this morning. Had alil bit of bad news. I lost alil bit of vision and i have more scaring.. So yeah just kinda mooing around cause my eyes are still dialated.. But other than that he siad I wont go totally blind. So i guess I'm alil bit happy about that.. He took some pictures. Happiness?
Is it possible for everyone to find happiness? Or is it only meant for some to find? That is the question that burns through my mind. How is it that some are blessed with wonderful relationship, were others must love someone who doesnt love them back. Or there are some who have money out their ears,were some are barely scraping by. I dont understand this but maybe someday i will. My dad says happiness comes with love, but the only thing i see that comes with love is heartache and loneliness. My dad also tell me that i only need to find the one person i can give my heart to, and this will give me love and happiness. I don't understand some people. Sometimes I think I have everybody around me figured out. Then something happens and it causes a domino effect and nothing makes sense anymore. Friday, December 14th - The Ice Storm
More than two-thirds of the Tulsa metro area was without electricity Monday as heavy ice caused trees to snap and fall, taking power lines with them. At least 14 deaths statewide were attributed to the weather, including two in Tulsa. 9 servings 8 oz Lasagne noodles 1/3 c White wine 1/2 c Onion, chopped 1/2 ts Basil, crushed 1/2 Green pepper, chopped 1 3/4 c Cottage cheese 4 tb Butter 2 c Chicken, cooked and diced 1 Can cream of chicken soup 2 c Mild cheddar cheese, grated 1 c Mushrooms, sliced 1/2 c Grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 c Pimentos, chopped/drained Cook noodles in boiling, salted water according to package directions; drain. Ok. You get an invite into a lounge. You go in, sit for a minute, get asked to subscribe, so you do it. Then you leave, and forget all about the place... I don't know how many times I've done that. So I sit here and go thru my list of lounges, which is vast, and determine which to keep and which to drop. I go into a lounge, hit unsubscribe, and move on to the next one...only to find that there IS NO UNSUBSCRIBE OPTION!! Shouldn't really matter. Just don't go in there. But it annoys me. Last few days have been crazy but fun. Friday I worked at respite with two teenaged girls, one who's very relaxed, and another who keeps us all running. Record Breaking Temperature Jan.7,2007

Update On My Daughter
Well she ended up back at the emergency room on the 8th. She had a fever of 102.9 and her breathing was bad. They took more blood and xrayed her chest. She now has to be on a breathing machine with the albuterol. She has to go back to Childrens Hospital next week to check where her stitches are and back to her doctors office to check how her breathing is going. So I will update more later! well as most of you know im heading to germany for suregery. i was down in arizona for physical therapy try to prepare for this surgery get as mentally and physicly prepared for itas possible. well i originally went down there for the possibilty of walking again and like i can kinda do that but its walking with braces and a walker and theres nothing wrong with that but i want more and im going after it. i loved it down there like i was so far away from anybody i knew i could do my own thing and not wory about a thing. let me tell you this surgery is no cheep opperation so we have pulled a few stings to really make this work. one included a benifit, where a few of you showed up most of you didnt wich is ok i dont care,well my surgery is march 21th i leave minnesota the 16th im really excited but so scared all in the same sense. im haveing an omentum surgery. theres a thing called an omentum in your inner stomache area and the doc can cut that into a form to where its like 3-4 feet long

I like a really great cup of coffee... But I guess I won't be drinking Starbucks anymore!!!! Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee. So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support them by buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. Don't Know What To Call This One
I like American Idol. Having said that, I don't love it, I don't think that every person to make it to the finals has what it takes to go all the way. There are only two people in the 7 (I think) years that the show has been aired in which I have ever voted for. I am very musically inclined, and admittedly I'm not a good enough vocalist to make a show like that but I honestly do have the ear for it. The first was Elliott Yamin... god he had an amazing tone to his voice. He really deserved to win in my opinion. This year I vote for someone solely based on their manorisms and personality... I just can't help it. He's so freakin cute it makes me want to vomit. His eyes, his voice, his je ne sais quais... and it's not that he's the best one. Not Giving Up
A friend asked me if I was a Single Parent. And I never really thought about it until now. I am. I have been since the children father and I divorce 12 years ago. I was stupid to think that my second husband would be a good father figure for my children. But all he ever did was show my son how to beat women.
