Christmas Time
Have you ever wondered what it would be like without your immediate family around you for christmas? Well i go through it every year. 12years ago on Christmas morning my immediate family had a car crash & i was meant to be in the car as well but i was at my grandma's place with her & i found out on the news because no-one in my family rang to tell me. I found out that day that my parents(both 46yrs old) had died instantly & my lil sister(12yrs of age & like my best friend) died 1 week later on New Year's Day morning. I was only 20yrs young at the time. So every Christmas time since then(12yrs ago)I have been on my own & every year it gets harder & harder to deal with! I haven't had a Christmas with anyone for the last 12 years now. I so miss my Christmas with my family especially my lil sister. Non Compliance
Due to the bean counters upsttairs, the food budget was recently slashed. I am told that its still enough money to make tasty, nutricious meals if carefully managed. Well nothing, to my knowledge, is carefullly managed here. I am diabetic, which means I am supposed to watch my carbs. Here, this is ignored and I am regularly given meals that I have no business eating. When I can, I get food from the outside, but this gets expensive, and the only delievery places around are pizza and chinese, neither of which are a whole lot better for a diabetic, but, if you dont eat the crust, pizza works alright. Oddly, this place, which feels its fine to send me a eal such macaroni and cheese with a roll and cake and yet when my friend brings in a subway sandwich on wheat she isnt allowed to bring it to me because its against my diet. Excuse me dietary, I know you believe me to be non-compliaint with my diabetic diet, but I am not. You are.

15 Miles North
Good morning all. It was a wild night in mid-TN. Storms everywhere, thunder crashing, lightning flashing, winds howling, and rain in sheets. Sirens three times during the night, one totally freaked out cat and terrified bird at my house. Then there was me. Basically annoyed at the lost sleep heh heh. I knew by yesterday morning it was going to be a tough day, woke up with temps in the 60's. Being from "tornado alley" in northern Oklahoma, I have an odd connection with severe weather. I knew it was bad, but at my house it was merely like an artillery attack. The flashes and the thunder were together. I am on the crest of a hill so that happens a lot. 15 miles to the north, they were not as fortunate. Homes & businesses destroyed. At least 5 people killed. Lives in disarray. Animals wandering around in a daze. God bless those people and may their road to recovery be short & smooth. Again, I am lucky. Someday a tornado may find me, but up until now, I have had 15 close calls.

That's what I am, when it comes to this most important upcoming election. I obviously understand the importance of who's in that office for the next 4yrs, but I just haven't become entrenched in the candidates, issues, or race itself. The candidates, from afar at least, seem to be better choices than we had 4yrs ago, but that's not saying much. The issues, some of extreme importance, are ones that i'm not sure 1 person can truly affect without wholesale changes in congress, as well. And the race itself has been quite odd with so many momentum swings by the candidates on both sides of the aisle. Yet, i'm still generally apathetic about the whole situation. Although, i'm sure i'll be complaining in 2yrs about whoever is in office, as if i had cared now. To me, the best thing about this election, is who will be leaving office! Where Does It Stop
Today where I live, they have passed a no smoking law here in public buildings,restaurants and bars. Yeah, this isnt' a new concept but here is the thing...there are exemptions and those exemptions are casinos and fair venues. While I have not smoked in a few years how fair is it that there are exemptions? The only reason casinos were exempt was because of the revenue they generate and also because the neighboring state did ban smoking in their casino and have seen a steady decline in clientel. This to me is so unfair to the bars and restaurants that protested the ban. It is saying well if you generate the right dollar amount of revenue you too can be exempt and feel free to blow your smoke to whoever walks by! If you have a no smoking ban in place, make it straight across the board no exceptions. Along this same subject, a year ago we had a significant tax on cigs here to the tune of a $1 per pack. I don't know what to do with myself anymore. My love life is so fucking ridiculous. For the life of me I can't figure out why I continue to let myself hold onto something that I can't even say whether or not is still there. Can you believe it, it is June 30th already. Pretty soon, we will be setting up Back to School at work signifying the whole major Holiday seasons are about to kick up in full gear. Balsamic Sauce!
**Contributed by the always awesome Licks.** This is one of the less "healthy" sauces, but it's really good...and can be used on lots of different stuff and it's super easy. balsamic vinegar unsalted butter minced garlic heat about 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar over a medium heat with 1 clove of minced garlic. You want it to simmer not boil. When it gets thick, which shouldn't take very long, add 1 stick of unsalted butter or margarine. You should cube it and add it a little bit at a time until it's all in there...whisking as you go. That's all there is to it. You can serve this over fish, veggies or with pasta/rice that has veggies in it or chicken. Anything really. I would think it would also be good on a mini pizza creation.

I found out today that Tippy, my baby girl, has cancer. I will meet with the oncologist to discuss possible treatment and prognosis. If there is no prognosis with a quality of life after the treatment, then I will have to have her put down. So if I am not around or available for a bit, this is why. Hard Times
Right now I'm having a really hard time finding a job out here. I'm a graduate Accountant but its very hard to find a company that will hire me because I'm entry level. Which mean I don't have even a years worth of experience. I'm negative in both of my bank accounts and I have no way to bring it back up without a paycheck. I'm needing help very badly. I can't afford diapers, diaper wipes, or anything for my kids or even me. We are just skimming by right now and its about to get even worse. I moved out here to Texas being told that the job market is easier and I will be able to provide a better life for my kids but right now I'm not able to do any of that and its really getting to me. I've been depressed and stressed out getting turned down for even a housekeeping position because I never did it professionally.
