It was one year ago today that my hometown was shaken to the core. As everyone was on their way to work or just arriving the news was unsure and tragic. All that was known is that there was shots on the Virginia Tech campus, no one knew the extent of the damage yet. Frantically, people attempted to contact loved ones who attended the popular school. As a Company, Southwest Airlines is going to support 'Red Fridays.' Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen. Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. Ok got some things I need to say and not sure where to start but here goes. Family Emergancy
I received a call from my brother this morning and last night 4/30/08 my father had a heart attack/stroke and is now on life support. Seems my brother and sister are waiting for me because he has a DNR. Now the hospital was unaware of the DNR so they put him on life support, being that I am the oldest child my signature is needed before we can shut off life support. Doctors say if he wakes up he will be a vegetable. So I am leaving on a flight this evening and flying back home for a few days and prepare for a funeral. I will miss all my friends here. Just keep me in your thoughts and I'll be back in a week or so.

Another Lesson Learned
Life occasionally will hand me a bushel of lemons. I guess I'm supposed to make lemonade, but lately I'm getting ready to throw a fast pitch at someone with those lemons. Last week, we had monsoon weather. I came home from work and I heard Cooch slurping water. Going To Be Offline For A Few Days.
Well y'all I'm going to be offline for a few days because my real life girl friend countrygirl@heat is arriving here in Albuquerque today. INGREDIENTS 1 box (19.5 oz) Pillsbury® Traditional Fudge Brownie Mix 1/2 cup CRISCO® Pure Vegetable Oil 1/4 cup water 3 Eggland’s Best eggs 1 1/2 cups toffee bits 1 cup Fisher® Macadamia Nuts, chopped 2 firm ripe medium bananas, cut into 1/4-inch pieces (2 cups) 1/3 cup SMUCKER'S® Caramel Ice Cream Topping DIRECTIONS 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Generously spray 13x9-inch pan with CRISCO® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray. 2. In medium bowl, stir brownie mix, oil, water and eggs 50 strokes with spoon. Add 1 cup of the toffee bits, the nuts and bananas; stir just until well blended. Pour into pan. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup toffee bits over top. 3. Bake 38 to 48 minutes or until center is set when lightly touched, top is slightly dry and edges just start to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely, about 2 hours. Trip To Florida (part 2)
(Part 2) We plan to leave out first thing in the morning, if the weather permits. Late Evening; we are back from our ride. We went to a place called Hog Pen Landing. It was a small fishing camp on the lake, several of the spots filled, not near as pretty as this site though. I went topless part of the ride. The Unknowns
The first week of advanced microbiology is over. I have had little sleep and I now have bags under my eyes big enough that you could pack for a trip to Europe. The class is 4 hours long and by the time I get home, I have at least 90 pages to read along with 50-75 study guide questions to answer. There is no time. We have already had 3 quizzes. I want to cry. The first night, listening to my prof and scanning the syllabus,I heard my jaw hit the desk and I must have looked like a deer in the headlights. I looked around at my classmates and they had the same look. I then didn't feel so bad....still bad, but a lot less. One good thing.....my lab partner is Asian. Asians have a different education ethic than Americans. Angel's niece will be okay. She does have some broken bones, and scratches and will need continuing prayers for healing. I have been told, though have not seen, that viewing the picture of the car she was in there must have been angels watching over her. Another blog about nothing, lol. After two rounds of tag your it, and another couple with a few people, it has been brought to my attention that no matter how boring you think your life is, it can really be quite interesting. My earliest memory that I can actually claim as mine and not a remembrance of mom or dad, is that of my mom crying in front of the TV in the living room. We were living in El Paso at the time, and President Kennedy had just been shot, it was November 22, 1963. I don't remember anything else from that time period, the hospital, the shooting of Oswald, the burial, all that is memory from film of the events. Funny how people can sometimes see something often enough to believe it was their memory of it. I won't claim that I know what are my memories and which are 'accumulated' memories. Lung Removed In 'cancer Blunder'
A man has said his lung was needlessly removed by doctors after he was wrongly diagnosed with cancer. Laurence Ball, who lives in Shetland, had surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to remove a tumour on his lung. But Mr Ball, 58, was later told there had never been cancer in the organ. He is now planning legal action. NHS Grampian said the case was in the hands of the Central Legal Office and the board considered it inappropriate to comment further. so thge news is in and its not good. doctors have givin us 2 days to 2 weeks left with mom. and its been about 3-4 days so far. so theres very little time left. im back in MA. so im can be with mom and the rest of the fam for her last days. There are a variety of reasons for being homeless and not all of them have to do with drinking or drugs. Yes some may be where they are due to personal addictions but there are more out there due to mental illness. Major changes in their lives they had no control over like the loss of their jobs, divorce or unexpected loss of a loved one they were very close to. Its been a rough few months since I was last here. My balance has been poor at best. I took one particular fall that caused me in the end months of extreme pain and numerous trips to the dentist to fix the damage. All the while Im trying to stay working and keep up with the house and my kids. Boy its been tough. My cataracts are getting worse and now I have constant black "floaties" everywhere I look. I am having difficulty driving at night. They wont be able to fix the cataracts until they have made me almost blind. They are not the kind that cloud the surface of the eye, those are from aging. I Dont Know What To Do Anymore
My husband and I have been split up for about 5 months now after being together for 7 years. I found out about a month and a half ago that he has been living with another woman for about 3 and 1/2 months now. When she found out about me she pushed for him to file for divorce so we met up and signed papers. He insisted on being the one to go turn them in to the court for whatever reason (normally he would have left something like that up to me). Well when I call the court to make sure everything was turned in and right they say he turned in everything but the page that was signed and notarized (the most important paper) and a paper that only he had to fill out. I know I'm not going by my normal "blog" schedule, but homesickness has finally hit. My Lawnmower Death
It was a warm fall day and perfect for the last lawn mowing of the season. I was visiting my mother and she asked if I could mow her yard, which happened to be three acres, for her. I hopped onto the riding mower and briskly did abou eghty-five percent of the lawn. The remaining portion of the lawn was an embankment along the edge of a state road, so I got the push mower ready and then decided to take a quick break. PUMPKIN ROLL Cake Roll: 3 eggs 1 cup sugar 2/3 cup pumpkin 1 teaspoon lemon juice 3/4 cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon ginger 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup chopped pecans Filling: 1 cup powdered sugar 8 oz cream cheese 4 tablespoons butter 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Beat eggs for 5 minutes. Blend in sugar. Add pumpkin and lemon juice. Fold in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt. Grease and flour 11 x 15 cookie sheet and sides. Pour mixture onto cookie sheet. Top mixture with pecans. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes, then turn upside down on cotton towel, sprinkle with powdered sugar and roll. Let cake cool in freezer or refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours. Mix together cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter and vanilla. Unroll cake and fill with mixture. Roll cake and wrap in foil. Refrigerate and cut into 1-inch slices to serve.

No More Trains For Me!!
This is a slight carry on from yesterdays blog, just incase some didnt see it. I have got a lot on my plate, I am lucky that Porl is here to share what is going on ... I feel so disappointed and let down by the schooling systems and authorities and if your a real friend you will know what is going on. The line was for people who already had tickets. We were finally let in at 7:15 and it took forever to get in to the actual theatre. I sat the second seat from the aisle on the left in the row that right before the handicap seats. It was so god damn packed it was ridiculous. I went again today. Not so many people so I was able to get good seats. I really think it must be 1 in the box office this weekend. I'm not certain if it'll have staying power, but stephanie meyers can take my $17.75 for the two tickets and then rest assured that I will be purchasing the DVD as soon as it comes out. December 31,2008 9:21 pm and I am sitting here pondering what the new year means to me. 2008 was a really significant year for me. I made the decision to change the direction in which I was headed.
