Brain Scans Reveal Why Meditation Works
If you name your emotions, you can tame them, according to new research that suggests why meditation works. Brain scans show that putting negative emotions into words calms the brain's emotion center. That could explain meditation’s purported emotional benefits, because people who meditate often label their negative emotions in an effort to “let them go.” Psychologists have long believed that people who talk about their feelings have more control over them, but they don't know why it works. UCLA psychologist Matthew Lieberman and his colleagues hooked 30 people up to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) machines, which scan the brain to reveal which parts are active and inactive at any given moment. They asked the subjects to look at pictures of male or female faces making emotional expressions. It has been an interesting weekend...all day at the hospital on Friday, working double shifts on Saturday, and catching up on sleep this morning/afternoon before heading to visit them some more at the hospital today. Vacation
Wow, what a weekend. I stayed in a hotel that had a outdoor heated swimming pool, a hammock, a grill, a padio, and the room looked so much like a house. It was awesome. I took my girl up to ghostown. 1 lb of cod fillets 2 medium-sized russett potatoes 1 cup bread crumbs 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley 2 Tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper 2 eggs, lightly beaten Grapeseed oil, or other high smoke point oil such as canola oil, for frying 1 Boil and mash the potatoes, set them aside. 2 Boil the codfish until it flakes easkly. In order to explain why hemp, the most useful plant known to mankind, became illegal, we have to understand the reasons why marijuana, the drug, became illegal. This involves gluing fibrous hemp stalks together under pressure to produce a board which is many times more elastic and durable than hardwood. 5a) How can hemp be used as a fuel? The pulp (hurd) of the hemp plant can be burned as is or processed into charcoal, methanol, methane, or gasoline. The process for doing this is called destructive distillation, or `pyrolysis.' Fuels made out of plants like this are called `biomass' fuels. This charcoal may be burned in today's coal-powered electric generators. Methanol makes a good automobile fuel, in fact it is used in professional automobile races. It may someday replace gasoline. Hemp may also be used to produce ethanol (grain alcohol.) The United States government has developed a way to make this automobile fuel additive from cellulosic biomass. Hemp is an excellent source of high quality cellulosic biomass. One other way to use hemp as fuel is to use the oil from the hemp seed -- some diesel engines can run on pure pressed hemp seed oil. However, the oil is more useful for other purposes, even if we could produce and press enough hemp seed to power many millions of cars. 5b)

3a) How can hemp be used for cloth? The stalk of the hemp plant has two parts, called the bast and the hurd. The fiber (bast) of the hemp plant can be woven into almost any kind of cloth. It is very durable. In fact, the first Levi's blue jeans were made out of hemp for just this reason. Compared to all the other natural fibers available, hemp is more suitable for a large number of applications. Here is how hemp is harvested for fiber: A field of closely spaced hemp is allowed to grow until the leaves fall off. The hemp is then cut down and it lies in the field for some time washed by the rain. It is turned over once to expose both sides of the stalk evenly. During this time, the hurd softens up and many minerals are returned to the soil. This is called `retting,' and after this step is complete, the stalks are brought to a machine which separates the bast and the hurd. We are lucky to have machines today -- men used to do this last part by hand with hours of back-breaking labor. 3b

I am finding out that I am having more fun when it comes to family get-togethers than I used to. Yesterday we went to a birthday party for a 13 yr old, and I had a blast. I took my 4 kids and my girlfriend and her neice as well as my mother. A couple of people have complained to me about me putting stuff in the ol' Stash. Honestly you can just remove me if you feel the need to complain about it. The stash serves a few purposes: #1- It lets me watch the videos for songs that I've never seen before because I grew up without MTV for the most part. #2- When someone asks what music I like, I can direct them to the stash... most of the good stuff is in there. #3- Its a way to share the music I like, some of which you don't hear very often anymore. Movie Review For Live Free Or Die Hard
This was a great movie if you can get past one small problem. Who really thinks the government buildings in Washington D.C. will actually be completely staffed with hundreds of people on the 4th of July weekend? If you get past that silly idea, you will enjoy the usual Die Hard roller coaster ride of great stunts and witty Bruce Willis quips. Justin Long makes a fun sidekick in this one. The kid might actually turn out to be a decent actor some day. The concept is a good one...probably because it came from a book and the movie makers added the John McClane character to the book. Movie Review For Fantastic 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer
This was a decent movie. The action was good, the special effects were nice and the acting was passable. The storyline was wide open for alot of character building and plot delevopment but the makers of this film apparently cared more about product placement and getting the advertising dollar than putting meat on the bones of this movie. Getting Adjusted
Well Grant has called a couple of times since he has left, but today we got to talk for more than 2 min! He is still in recieving, and not doing alot as of yet. He will be entering basic by Thursday, then the real work begins!! Each time he has called he tells me he doesn't miss us.....YET! But for the first time today he is actually starting to miss his family. I think it's because he has had alot of time on his hands! That will soon come to an end, and after about a month then maybe he will have time to entertain the thought of being homesick. But he is a very strong young man and will be just fine. What I Like About Rpgs
i was thinking about this for days now but when i was little i always got lost in role playing game's story lines, couldn't really explain what was so drawing about them, but i think i've noticed that the key elements are always the strength of love and friendship. for instance the story always starts with an (outcast /loner)who was orphaned by society in some way "who cant relate to that right?" who because of his selfless nature takes on a task that sets him on a path towards finding his fate. along the way he useually meets (unbeknown to him) a princess who is just looking to be excepted for who she is not what she is expected to be "tell me this doesn't hit close to home" they suffer many trials and hardships together, that teach them about them selves and each other they feel exposed and push away from each other and they both eventually come to terms with the pains of there sorted pasts and run to each other with the relization that one person had given them

Toss with ground coriander, grated ginger, 2 teaspoons oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. 4 chicken boneless breast halves (with skin or without) Salt and pepper to taste 6 whole cloves garlic, peeled 2 Tbsp butter 1/4 pound of small cremini mushrooms 3 Tbsp finely chopped shallots 1/4 cup Port wine 3/4 pound plum tomatoes, cored and quartered, or 3/4 pound cherry tomatoes, cut in half (about 2 cups) 1 Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. 2 Drop garlic into a small saucepan of boiling water, cook for 5 minutes, set aside. 3 Heat butter in a heavy skillet and add chicken pieces. Cook over medium high heat until lightly browned on one side, about 1 minute. Turn and cook about 1 minute on the second side. Add mushrooms and cook, turning chicken occasionally, about 2 minutes. 4 Add shallots and the garlic cloves. Add Port wine, tomatoes, salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook 10 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through. Transfer chicken and tomatoes to a warm platter. Cook sauce down a minute or two. Pour onto chicken. Serves 4.

Parmesan chicken is traditionally made with boneless, skinless chicken breasts. We use breasts, but thighs too, if we are starting with a whole chicken. Sauce ingredients: 2 medium garlic cloves, peeled and minced 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes (we use Muir-Glen) 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano 1/4 teaspoon sugar Salt and ground black pepper Chicken ingredients: 3 Tbsp Dijon mustard 1 Tbsp white-wine vinegar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 4 (5-oz) skinless boneless chicken breast halves (or deboned thighs) 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs (we use make our breadcrumbs from old French bread) 1 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese 3 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted 1 Prepare the sauce. Clubbin!!
I went clubbin last night and had so much fun!! It was nice to go out with my sisters. We went to Metropolis. Hope got "REALLY tipcy" as she says in my opinion she was a little drunk. Ready To Go Home!
Just want to go home now. I really regret coming down here. My parents can't enjoy their trip to Mt. Pleasant now because I have to drain their bank account with my car problems, Jim is to pig headed to call his parents to help out even though they have plenty of money. I can't make my rent payment now.. all so I could bring him to see his son.. So why doesn't he help out financially? argh.. I seriously am debating just buying a plane ticket and heading back to Michigan and letting the claims rep down here deal with my car and then I'll come back down when my car is all fixed. Luckily the tow truck guy was very nice and helped the experience a little bit.. I was really nervous of having to ride in the truck with some crazy guy.. lol.. Connor liked his truck.. lol.. anyways.. gotta go.

Letting Go

Last night,the chef chose me to work a party in the hotel art gallery.One of my co-workers got a little pissed because she wanted to work the party.I think she feels that she should be chosen for such things because she is in a culinary program.Now,I felt bad even though I had no control over the situation.What the executive chef says,goes.At the same time,I know for a fact that she frequently does things that frustrates him.Following directions and questionable judgement are what happens frequently.The other little things just add insult to injury so to speak. Chapter 1: Writer's Block
This is getting really insane. When I was younger I used to draw and write all the time. Ideas would come pouring into my brain from everywhere. I would look at something and get some sort of twisted storyline about what said item could be used for, the journey it took to finally reach my hands, just kinda make up little vignettes about it. For example I'd look at an orange and think what would happen if someone else had this orange? What if this woman had this orange and she just found out her husband was cheating on her? Would she freeze it and then when he comes home bash his skull in with it? Or would she blind him with the juices from it and then shove it down his throat making him asphixiate? Never thought of an orange used as an instrument of death huh..... til now. >:) Anyway, I still have my ideas. They are still constantly coming to me everyday. 1 Year Here
So apparently I have been using CherryTap for over a a year now. My join date was June 29, 2006. It was Lost Cherry when I joined. I remember I was SUCH an addict for a good long while lol. This May Sound Weird...

Bedroom Painting Project

As I sit at my duck pond and think upon all that has happened and is happening...well...I guess you could say I have come to some conclusions....As of Monday I am going to be deleting my Cherry Tap account and my Myspace account. July 1st - Vegas Road Trip - The Beginning
And it begins.... Its now 7:30 AM and we have the durango all packed up. The vehicle seems like it is ready and roadworthy. Right now Sunshyne and Angel Eyes are in the bathroom doing what females do best. Making themselves prettier then they already are but as you know females have to get those last few and final touches in to complete the whole picture. Hopefully we are out of here by 8 AM. Hopefully today we will knock out at least 10+ hours of driving. The road to Vegas calls for a total of 28 hours drive time and 2000 miles. But we will drive as far as possible today before stopping this evening. Hope your weekend has been Kick A$$ and hopefully tonight you will get an update and some pics of whats going on with our road trip! One of the things I have found out since the divorce is that I'm glad that I can be back to being myself and not being controlled and manipulated like I was. Help: Fire Alarm Spontaneously Going Off!!!
Anyone know why the fire alarm goes off w/o reason? No smoke ... no fire ... no nothing and they just started screaming. It happened twice in one night a few weeks ago around this very time. The batteries are not low. We actually only had batteries in the two bedrooms from the last time. I pressed the button on the one in my sisters room and it turned off. WTF is triggering them?
