So charming was she that both gods and men found her irresistable She is often shown riding in a chariot drawn by swans while being surrounded by the doves and sparrows that were sacred to her. Story Of The Christmas Tree People often wonder where the custom of having a tree in the home during Christmas time comes from. We will probably never know for sure. But there are several historical clues that point out where this custom came from. An Ancient Symbol Thousands or years ago, there were people who believed that evergreen trees were magical. She had been driving her Jeep Cherokee for at least nine hours and her eyes were hurting as her vision began to wane. The snow was just beginning to fall, giving a hazy look to what little of the road she could see in her headlights. Leg Update
I went today for my appointment at the wound care center. Basically what they think is happening is that the skin is growing over the wound, faster than the wound can heal. Then my body is killing the new skin growth. So what happened today is they gave me 6 shots directly in the wound, after giving me some of that wonderful, I don't give a fuck laughing gas, they surgically removed the skin in that area. Then they gave me some type of treatment that was supposed to soothe the pain. I'm still waiting for the soothing. The great part of this is that I have to start going twice a week and having this surgery process done. Yes, I am in serious pain. Yes, I may turn bitchy very quickly. But the biggest yes is that you all have been great in asking about me and keeping up with what's been going on. Went to the doctor this morning. She met me at the office because my leg bled all night and wouldn't stop swelling. I had taken 2 Tylox, 1 Valium, 1 Avinza (slow release morphine), and 2 Benedryl, and the pain was continually getting worse. So, she does some blood work and an exam of my leg and finds out that the wrap that the wound care center has been prescribing for me to put on after my shower, has something in it that I am allergic to. That is what was causing the swelling which caused the extra aggravation of the skin tissue. I had already stopped going to this wound care center last week, because I decided they were a bunch of flakes. I guess this just proved my point. However, on my last visit, they decided they would try a new wrap and this is what I get. I'm not blaming them completely, because my immune system is just so messed up right now. However, I had asked them to please do a spot check before they did a full wrap. They informed me that this wrap had noth

I had to go to the surgeon this morning. Blahhhhh. More test. More needles. More pain. However, after he conferred with one of the previous doctors I've seen, and they compared testing results, they have come to the conclusion that there is obviously still some ink in the tissue around the bone in that area that has got to be removed.....somehow. The actual plans were to remove some more tissue and then try another skin graft. But after finding that there is still ink in the area, which is still doing damage to my tissue and nerves because I am so highly allergic to it, those plans have been halted. Although I am slightly relieved to know that they THINK they have figured the problem out, I am still frustrated because I'm still in the waiting game until they can figure out how to handle it. I'm just completely exhausted mentally and physically. The pain I am in has taken it's toll on me. The fact that I have had to give up A LOT of my independence, such as driving, is driv

I went to my scheduled appointment yesterday (Tuesday), with the new doctor. He was super nice and actually seemed as if he cared. And here's a BIG shocker for ya, I was even nice to him. Miracles do happen. LOL However, he has now joined the circle of ring around the rosies. He is just as bumfuzzled as everyone else has been. He brought out the possibility that maybe there is an abscess under the scarred area where all the infection has built up. Then he also mentioned that the infection has possibly moved into the bone. So, he ordered a MRI for this morning at 6:30am. I went and had that done and so now, here I am once again playing the waiting game while the damned pain won't ease up. A Leg Up...literally
Ok friends so i made a mumm before my surgery but many people are just finding out and asking questions so ive decided to kind of fill in the holes and put it all out there. I initially went in on the 18th for a 2nd ankle fusion, bone graph and removal of a couple tumors that had formed in my leg do to all the surgeries ive had ( this one being my 4th on just this leg ). Well during the surgery they faced several complications and i ended up having even more work performed. After 3 hrs in surgery this is what i had done..ankle fusion, heel fusion, removal of 2 tumors as well as the removal of my rt ligament and finally a couple titanium screws in the bottom of my heel and a 2nd skin graph. I had my second solo gig last Friday, again supporting my friend Dan’s off-kilter folky efforts. For this one I decided to strip everything down to the bare minimum, in an attempt to get a bit more rootsy (that and the fact that I totally forgot to use half the shit I had set up last time, and I only had a 10-minute slot to sound check. Dan himself was a support act this time, and had asked if I could fill in the gap at the start of the bill. The headliners were a local folky bunch of some renown, but were a bit more traditional than either Dan or myself (Dan wanting to give you nightmares and me apparently wanting to empty the room as quickly as possible). So I was on first. Again. This time in front of a room full of people who had come to see a totally different band. Last time, the audience was mainly made up of Dan’s friends (many of who are also my friends) and a few curious (in both senses of the word) folk fans that had come to see what was going on. Lemony Chicken Chunks
A quick and easy, skillet chicken dish--just saute the chicken and make a quick lemony pan sauce. Ingredients: • 3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cubed • 1/4 cup flour • 3 cloves garlic, minced • 1/4 cup olive olive oil • Salt and pepper to taste • 1/4 cup lemon juice Method: Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat. Combine salt, pepper and flour. Add chicken and coat with flour mixture. Cook in olive oil until chicken is fully cooked and lightly browned. Add garlic and cook another 1-2 minutes, then add lemon juice and cook 1 minute longer. Serve with rice pilaf or your favorite rice. Notes: Very simple and very good. Lemon Sorbet In Lemon Shells
Lemon Sorbet in Lemon Shells LEMON CUPS: 8 lemons - You'll need one lemon per person. Make sure the end (not the stem end) has a nice shaped "bump" and try to purchase uniform lemons.) Cut off the top 1/3 of the lemon (not the stem end) and reserve for the "cap." Hollow out each lemon by using a grapefruit knife (the angled blade keeps you from puncturing the bottom and you can also cut underneath the center of the fruit) just inside the rind and circling the flesh (being careful not to puncture the lemon). Remove juice and flesh and put it in your juicer. Make a slight shallow cut on the bottom of each lemon shells (being careful not to cut through to the inside of the lemon). This will make them sit straight and not fall over when placed on a plate. Freeze the shells at least one hour or overnight. Then fill with sorbet and freeze again. this sorbet can be made ahead and will keep several days in the freezer. The frozen shell will prevent the sorbet from melting too

LEMON SORBET: 1/3 cup lemon zest - you'll need 3 to 5 additional lemons 1 cup strained fresh lemon juice - from lemons used for cups 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 1/2 cups water In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and water until sugar dissolves. Add lemon zest. Stir until mixture comes to a boil; boil 2 minute. Remove from heat, cool, and strain. Pour cooled mixture into a shallow container, cover, and freeze overnight. Ice Cream Maker - Transfer mixture to ice cream maker, process according to manufacturer's instructions. Freezer Method - Pour into container, cover, and place mixture in the freezer. When it is semi-solid, mash it up with a fork and refreeze again. When frozen, place in a food processor or blender and process until smooth. Cover and refreeze until serving time. NOTE: Can be prepared 3 days in advance. Cover and keep frozen. Makes 8 servings.

Lemon And Ginger Muffins
2 tbsp. chopped fresh ginger root 1 or 2 lemons 1 stick butter, room temp. 1 c. granulated sugar 2 lg. eggs 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. plain yogurt or buttermilk 2 c. all-purpose flour 1/4 c. freshly squeezed lemon juice 2 tbsp. granulated sugar Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease muffin cups or use paper baking cups. Chop ginger finely. Grate the lemon peel so that you have 2 tablespoons. In a large bowl, beat butter and the 1 cup sugar with a wooden spoon or electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Add ginger and lemon peel. Stir baking soda into yogurt or buttermilk. It will start to bubble and rise up. Fold flour into ginger mixture one third at a time, alternating with the yogurt. When well blended, scoop into muffin cups. Bake 18 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned and springy to the touch.

1/2 c. Puritan oil 1/4 c. lemon juice 2 tbsp. white wine vinegar 1 tsp. grated lemon peel 1 tbsp. dried basil 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 1 lb.) Combine Puritan oil and next 7 ingredients in shallow baking dish. Add chicken, turning once to coat both sides. Refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes, turning once. Prepare charcoal for grilling, or heat broiler. Grill or broil chicken 4 inches from heat, turning once, 3 to 5 minutes per side or until completely cooked through. 4 servings. An easy make-over: Always remove skin from poultry before or after cooking. It's where most of the fat is.

1/3 c. cornstarch 1 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. grated lemon rind 3/4 c. sugar, dash of salt 1 slightly beaten egg 1/4 c. lemon juice 1 (11") loaf angel cake Mix cornstarch, sugar and salt; add water; cook until thick and clear. Add a little hot mixture to egg; stir into remaining hot mixture; cook 1 minute over low heat. Add butter. Add lemon juice and rind. Cool. Split angel cake into 3 layers; spread with filling. Cover loaf with Whipped Cream Frosting: Soften 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water; dissolve in 1/4 cup heavy cream (scalded); chill; whip. To 1/4 cup heavy cream, whipped, add 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Fold in whipped mixture. Serves 12.

Lemon Pepper Chicken (it's What's For Dinner)
Lemon Pepper Chicken (So easy) Ingredients: 20 chicken wings and drumettes about 1/3 cup lemon pepper seasoning Oil for frying (1 inch in pan) salt and pepper to taste Blue Cheese or Ranch Dip on the side. Preparation: put chicken wings and drumettes in the oil and salt and pepper the chicken in the pan and stir the chicken on medium heat until chicken is cooked through. When the chicken is cooked through, place into a bowl and sprinkle the lemon pepper as you stir (while the oil is still on the chicken, this makes the lemon pepper to stick to it.) So, keep stirring until the chicken is all coated with the lemon pepper, and that's it! Serve right away with your favorite dressing.

Ingredients: 1 (5 to 6-pound) roasting chicken Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper 1 large bunch fresh thyme 4 lemons 3 heads garlic, cut in 1/2 crosswise 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1/2 pound sliced bacon 1 cup white wine 1/2 cup chicken stock Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. 1 box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® lemon or yellow cake mix Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box 1 can (6 oz) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed 3/4 cup powdered sugar 1 container Betty Crocker® Whipped fluffy white or fluffy lemon frosting Yellow colored sugar, if desired 1. this is a great meal for 2, if you make it for more then 2 just adjust the recipe. Lemon Dill Chicken 2 tablespoons of olive oil 2 tablespoons of lemon juice 2 cloves garlic, pressed 1/2 teaspoon dill weed 1/2 teaspoon of salt 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, halved Mix oil, lemon juice, garlic, dill weed and salt in a small bowl. Acquire two pounds of dog meat. Try to ensure that it is from a medium-sized dog; the breed does not matter, unless you have certain preferences. (Alternatively, use an 8 oz. package of frozen minced lemongrass.) Mix the minced lemongrass with three tablespoons of Vietnamese fish sauce, two teaspoons of lime juice, and a half teaspoon of lime zest. A brand I like to use is Three Crabs Brand, but all in all, fish sauce tends to taste the same. Chop the dog meat into 1-inch pieces. Add the lemongrass marinade and stir. Leave the mixture refrigerated overnight. Either sauté, steam, or grill the meat. My favorite way to cook this dish is to skewer the meat chunks and roast it in a rotisserie oven. So I just saw on the news this morning that the USDA Forest Service is taking a new approach to teaching kids about caring for the environment. Remember our old pal Woodsy Owl who told us "Give a hoot, don't pollute"? It seems he has been given a face lift in conjunction with a new motto of "Lend a hand, care for the land". In my personal opinion the change up was not needed and all they really needed to do was start blasting us with commercials again during our Saturday morning cartoons with that old catchy tune to stir up interest again. But what do I know? So here's the part I find disturbing...the government is actually encouraging (requiring?) the burning of the old Woodsy mascot costumes! For Lent the team leads here at work decided that we would give up swearing at work. And the list not only contains the 7 words from the FCC, but pretty much anything else you wouldn't want your 80 year old gran ma ma to hear you say. For Each violation of this policy we are charged $1. By 9:30 today we were up to $4. $10 by 12:00. Not being able to swear is horrible. We cant type, write, say a swear or deliver it with sign language. You can now add Lent and Not Swearing to my list of things to hate. Good news is that the money we rack up will be used to go out drinking with after lent. Sweet!
