With a saddened heart i will tell the tale
Of the Nascar Champion Driver,Dale
The baby boy born in Fifty-one
Dale's daddy Ralph was proud of his son.
A racer himself,Dale learn from his dad
Techniques and strategies. The talent he had
"Establish your territory and always stay cool"
Ralph taught his son to be no fool.
The words of his dad Dale never forgot
And after Ralph died,Dale missed him alot
Young Dale raced on and in seventy-nine
Took Rookie of the Year.I know he felt fine!
Dale took no prisnoners when on the track.
He always looked foward, never looking back.
His unique style of racing became a sight
And along the he became The Black Knight.
Attending those races, the fans came to see
Daring young Dale driving car number three
Right from the start when the race would began
The thrill of witnessing young Dale to win
He passed and he rubbed and by ninety-four
Seven Championships he won with his high-score
But Feburary that year he lost his best friend
Neil Bonnet his buddy had come to an end.
But for the Black Knight the race must go on
Although a .bright light from his own life was gone.
The Intidmiator was tough onthe track
Determined ti win never looking back
Then finally after waiting twenty long years
Daytona 500 his eyes filled with tears.
He waited so long to win
When he did crossed that line,he was in first place
Like his father before him,he was teaching his son.
A new generation had just begun
Dale Junior,Car 8 Dale Sr Car 3
Both racing to be the best they could be.
Theresa there watching the wild fast paced ride
Wind blowing in her hair, her face filled with pride
As Dale got in his car,she gave him a kiss
For love and for luck. This she will miss
So many wrecks he had walked away from
But another Feburary,another unfateful day
Same track, same turn that took his friend
That day at Daytona the Black Knight,s life did end.
On a cold rainy day in Annapolis North Carolina they laid him to rest
With full knowledge that he had given his best
With tears and prayers and heartfelt love,
They will commend his spirit to God above.
He left behind his legecy
And a empty black car with a white number 3
A void so vast that none can fill
Though some may try...but no one evr will.
Dale a legend in his own time
Dale the Black Knight shall forever shine
Dale Earnhardt the man whose life is gone
But the Legend of The Black Knight shall
go on and on and on.
