Brothers
Brothers are there to stick by one another and I have one that has done that he has been there beside me through thick and thin. My brother is the one who has helped me through a lot of stuff when we were growing up. The times that I was having trouble in school he helped me when I asked. The Wondering Continues
So since my last blog post, I have still no real results to what I am praying for and so with that I have decided (against hubby's better judgement of course, but then again he knows me too well as it seems) to call the doctor in the morning to see if he'll get me in sometime in the afternoon. All I want to know is IF I am in fact pregnant and if I am not what the real deal is here. I would love to be able to call my parents up this week and say happy early birthday (dad) and happy early mother's day mom your going to be grandparents for the fourth (my first child though) time. They became grandparents when my brother got married in 2000, then again when my brother and his wife had their first child together (she had two from a previous marriage) and so this will be the icing on the cake to be able to give my parents yet another grandchild. So that is what has been going on. To all of my CT friends and Family (also fans) I love you all and appreciate your love and support.

Well, friends, I made it back, busted and bruised, but still in one piece. It was a wild, amazing, kick ass weekend. Frivolous, But Funny
I got my nails done today. Yes, my nails aren't entirely my own. Anywho, I had to pick a color and I was leaning towards the hot pink. I grabbed it and sat down at the table where my "nail dude" was. Yeah, a dude.. what can I say? They do a good job. I am sitting there and I happen to glance at the nail polish bottle that I had picked. It had a VERY sparkley sticker on the top with what looked like it could be the name of the color. Ok, I'll bite. I am always interested to see what they name these things. Much to my surprise, I saw something I swear I would never think I would see on a bottle of nail polish. My chosen color of Neon Pink was named "Erektis Klitoris" =O!! 2007 Draft
Wow! So I spent part of the weekend watching the draft. I am proud to say that the University of Tennessee had 5 players drafted to the NFL this weekend as of the 6th round. That is as far as I got before heading out today. On another note, northeast colleges were well-represented as well. Connecticut, Boston College, University of New Hamphshire and the University of Maine all had players drafted! I am really looking forward to see what UT does to keep building their team, and of course I am on the lookout to see what the Patriots are doing :)

Maria continues to improve...she is now being fed breast milk through her tube, and they are beginning to slowly ween her off her respirator. Robin tells me she was told today, that Maria could be off the respirator as early as tomorrow. They did give her a little blood today, but the nurses say they may be removing one of the chest tubes tomorrow as well and her color is looking pretty good now...Keep fighting Maria! ok i don't know why it bothers me but it does. first off i know this pic has to be from a few decades ago because not many people have the bubble vest now a days. but anyways, photos such as this one have always disturbed me. i've never been in the military or anything but it bothers me that people can't show respect to the people who fight to protect our rights. Drivers License
my options as far as transportation are concerned are becoming less by the day. Soon my transportation options will be severely limmted to bus and occcasional rides home. This leaves me no room for leaving the city. This summer I will have to get my drivers license. I have no choice. I am sooo tired of "friends" claiming that they want to help me move and then not even calling to say they can't... I was reading in the newspaper yesterday that convicted killer, David Woods (no relation), is arguing about the civility of lethal injection. There is some argument that the drug that stops the heart is being administered before the inmate is completely sedated, thus causing some pain prior to death. It's being argued that this is inhumane. This man, David Woods, was convincted for the brutal murder of his 77 year old neighbor. Did he stop to consider that the murder might be painful for his victim? There was no team of lawyers to plead the victim's case. Open Wound
At times it is still so difficult. I feel at one moment that I am healed of love and other times all I can do is think of you. Well, I was suppose to go and do something fun today, but it got canceled on me. I should've known better. Using Sound
Many children with Autism have difficulties processing sound or distinguishing noise from normal conversation. Hence, they often appear deaf although they have normal hearing. Typical children are able to "filter" out background noise from useful auditory information. Children with Autism very often attempt to block out this bombardment of sound and retreat into their own world. In many cases they will hold their ears. In some cases, they will rock to and fro in an attempt to block out the sensory overload. It is important to teach these children to identify sounds. First Blog Post!
Hey everybody! So, my first blog post....shows how much I need something to do :P I thought I'd write to say that I'll be going home from college this week, so I won't be on CT as much, but I won't forget about it--I promise! The Days!

Last time I rented a condo for 4 days and 3 nites, needless to say we didn't leave the condon for the first day, lol. Hey what can I say, he missed me, lol. So to all of you, I am greatful for you all helping me spend time here instead of just laying around after working out and tanning. You help keep me occupy and for that I will be greatful, but you all ain't loosing me that easy, lol. When he comes home I will still be around just for not a couple of days. My Candyman is coming home! Hallejuah!

Teaching With Pictures
"A picture is worth a thousand words" and using pictures is an excellent way to teach speech, language and communication. Children with Autism are highly visual and can be taught almost anything using images. Temple Grandin, the famous autistic author of many books on Autism once said that she thinks in pictures. You need thousands of good photographic pictures to help with 'generalization' i.e. if a child with Autism has just one picture of a white dog and is taught this is a dog, he may not easily recognize a German Shepherd or a Rottweiler as a dog when he sees it. Using new and varied material also keeps a child from getting bored and frustrated. Minimize the number of stick images or drawings used. Actual color photographic material is best as the images are more life-like and much easier for the child to relate to. You can never have too many pictures in your collection. Get them from anywhere you can - magazines, old books, the web, printed catalogs, even junk mail!

Choosing A Therapist
Choosing a good therapist for a child with Autism is not easy if you haven't worked with a child yourself. Many experienced parents will actually be able to train their new therapists. Therapists can be anyone with enough energy, enthusiasm, patience and genuine love for children. Those below the age of 18 are often too young and immature (some will actually be frightened!). Mothers with children often don't have the time and energy and often don't like to be told how to deal with children as they feel they are the experts. One applicant told me how she regularly smacked her own children when they misbehaved. There is no room for such people in your home. A good tip is to make a short list of the ones you feel may be suitable and tell them there will be a training period of a couple of weeks during which there will be no payment. Many of them will drop out as working with a child with Autism is very demanding and not suited to everyone.

Working With Your Child
I would strongly suggest the parents begin working with the child at least initially rather than leaving him to a therapist. Your child will trust you and understand you are trying to help him. You need to have boundless energy, be animated and genuinely love teaching your child. This is not easy and experts estimate you could do this for no more than 10 to 12 hours a week. If both parents take turns, the task is, of course a lot easier. Later, you could introduce a therapist or two to help out as you will not be able to maintain a high level of energy for too long. An advantage of doing the initial work yourself is that you will then know a good therapist when you see one and be able to weed out those that are of little value to your child.

This Morning The Gods Hate Me.
Rawr. I swear its like the gods hate me. So yesterday in my mad spring cleaning I came across the fact that my fish tank is leaking, rather rapidly. So Henry will soon be waterless. Go out this morning and spend $200 for a new tank and new crap for it, get it home and its like 30 inches across, while my old tank was only 27.5 inches. So now it wont fit on the stand I had. On top of that, I get home to no parking(ive got 3 spots in front of my house, no drivway or garage, the ONLY people on the street without a driveway mind you) And the people across the street(who PAVED THEIR BACK YARD FOR PARKING) have parked in ALL three fucking spots. So i got to haul a 29 gallon fish tank down the street along wiht almost 30 lbs of rocks for the bottom of the tank. You better believe i was bitching them out the whole time. And now im going to sit here and stew and smoke and try to get Henry's tank set up.
