Mocha Rum Balls
INGREDIENTS: * 1/4 cup freeze dried coffee * 1/4 cup rum * 1 tablespoon water * 2 tablespoons cocoa * 2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs * 3 cups confectioners' sugar, divided * 1 cup chopped nuts * 3 tablespoons light corn syrup * dash salt PREPARATION: In a mixing bowl, dissolve coffee in rum and water; add cocoa, vanilla wafer crumbs, 2 cups of confectioners' sugar, chopped nuts, and corn syrup; mix well. Sift remaining 1 cup confectioners' sugar onto waxed paper. Measure mocha ball mixture in teaspoonfuls; roll into small balls. Roll in the sifted confectioner's sugar. Store in tightly covered container for several days to bring flavor out. Makes about 4 dozen.

Mocha Angel Dessert
1 package butterscotch pudding mix (not instant) 1 1/2 cups water 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee powder 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 angel food cake 3 Coffee Crisp chocolate bars 2 1/2 cups whipping cream, whipped 1/4 cup coffee liqueur Mix pudding mix and water together in a medium saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in coffee powder and vanilla. Cool. Cut angel food cake into 1 inch pieces. Crush Coffee Crisp bars in food processor. Fold half of the whipped cream into the cooled pudding, and stir in the liqueur. Fold in the angel food cake pieces. Assemble in a nice glass dessert bowl. Start with a layer of 1/3 of the pudding mixture. Top with 1/3 of the crushed Coffee Crisp bars. Then another layer of pudding, another layer of Coffee Crisp, the remaining pudding, and the remaining Coffee Crisp. Top with the reserved whipped cream. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.

Ingredients: * 1/2 cup butter, cubed * 1-1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided * 2 to 3 teaspoons instant coffee granules * 2 eggs * 3/4 cup sugar * 3/4 cup packed brown sugar * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract * 2 cups all-purpose flour * 1/3 cup baking cocoa * 1/2 teaspoon baking powder * 1/4 teaspoon salt Directions: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt butter and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Remove from the heat; stir until smooth. Stir in coffee granules; cool for 5 minutes. Stir in the eggs, sugars and vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; fold into the chocolate mixture with remaining chocolate chips. Drop by round teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 9-11 minutes or until tops appear slightly dry and cracked. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely. Yield: about 5-1/2 dozen.

Refrigerate. When chilled, spoon on softened ice cream and freeze. Melt chocolate and butter. Add sugar, salt and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Mock Cheese Souffle
This easy mock souffle is made with bread, cheese, eggs, and seasonings. INGREDIENTS: * 6 slices bread -- remove crusts * 1/2 pound sharp Cheddar cheese -- shredded * 4 eggs -- lightly beaten * 2 1/2 cups milk * 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce * salt and pepper -- to taste * butter PREPARATION: Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Line the bottom of the casserole with the bread slices; cover with the cheese. Mix the eggs with milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour over bread and cheese. Dot with butter. I started taking food to photo shoots. I don't know where the myths about models started. More mysterious is WHY they got started! Every model I know eats! I mean EATS! They eat like pigs. They constantly snack, and then eat full--unhealthy meals. When an outing with one of my models includes a lunch or a dinner the fare is hamburgers and French fries. Hold the salad, "I'm saving room for dessert." It's not a complaint...I don't really like that total waif look. I hope to see some new trends as the European designers have decidedly chosen NOT to design clothing for models with less than at 17% BMI. It's going to be the 70's all over again!

I recently turned down the opportunity to do some modeling. I would usually jump at offers, but I have been out of that business for years now. My life has changed alot and I don't think it would be the best thing for my daughter right now. Maybe if I could do it more locally like in Denver, I would start again, but L.A. is just too far. But on the other hand, the fact that I even got another offer after all these years, makes me feel so much better about myself. It makes me realize just how pretty I am and that it's not conceited to think so anymore. For a long time, my ultimate goal was to pose for Playboy. Ok here is something that is going on... Within the past month I had a modeling agency calling me. They have called me three times so far. I was going to quit but I decided not to. But I turned them down twice. I am going down there tomorrow, just to see if I can make it. They do casting for modeling and acting. It means that if I do this and they like what they see then I am going to be in mags and on tv. I will be a bit more than a local model. I am kinda scared of going down this road. Since my marriage we decided against having children of our own and now view the 3 kitties we have aquired over time as our babies(along with my son of course), and we celebrate their births as any human would, since again, to us they are our children until the day we die. Many of you may not understand it but if you do, send comments that I can show to our baby boy. Although it may seem redundant to many, I am just so happy our kitty Moggy, our little boy, has had his first birthday! Yay!! When we got him he was so flea ridden and skinny, he needed to be nursed back to health, just like our two older girls. Mojo is a bar on Dong Khoi Street, one of the most beautiful streets of Ho Chi Minh City - or casually known as Sai Gon - next to the only Gucci store in town (so far.) 1 C. shortening (back then she liked lard ) 1 C. brown sugar 1 C. molasses 1 C. sour milk (sour with vinegar or lemon juice) 2 t. soda 1 t. each ginger and cinnamon 1 T. vinegar ( she liked cider vinegar but I've done it with white and it still works) 5 C. flour ( you may need more or less ) Mix shortening, sugar, and spices together. Add vinegar, molasses and milk, mix well. Add flour, one cup at a time without sifting it first, till you have a stiff dough. Refrigerate for at least an hour or even over night if you want. Heat oven to 350°F. to 375°F. Roll dough into about walnut size balls, then you take something to press the ball flat on a floured surface, (I always used a saucer, I floured the bottom of it first so it wouldn't stick). Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and brush tops with milk then sprinkle with sugar. Bake for about 5 minutes (maybe a little longer, you have to watch the first batch to see exactly how long).

Out of all the peeps on my friend's list, there is only one person that I have talked to extensivly about my mother. Now, I feel like I need to write it down because I have done this on another site and it has helped me along with this person I try to talk to on an everyday basis. My mother found out a few weeks ago that she has lung and kidney cancer. I lsot my father 12 years ago to lung cancer and now I have to not only relive that every day but go throught it anew with my mother now. I am stressed to no end about her. I don't get out much and other than the 8 hours a day I spend at my job, I am thinking about ehr every waking second. What happens if she goes down in health rapidly, what happens if me or one of my siblings have to watch her, like my friend does, will I have the patience and mind set to be able to get the job done for Mom. Went to see mom today, and her nurse said she may get the tube out today!! I was surprised!! They just cut her oxygen back again!! But, he showed me her breathing patterns that she was able to do without the help of any machines. She'll be on another machine, but she will be doing the breathing, and the machine is pretty much stand by. She was thrilled with the news herself!! She smiled the best she could with the wrap, and tube, but it sure was a beautiful smile. She let my brother know lastnight that she was hungry!! So, I feel very good about this now. Well yall sorry i anit been on, but we had to call the ambulance fer my Mom wedsnday right before lunch. Well they says she has a mass uti and bladder infection and 2 compressed discs. They let her come home today, n i told my customers until further notice my shop is closed. So if i anit on very much , thats why. I will be able to come out here some after she takes her meds n goes to sleep after 10 or so. But i still check on her every 30 to 45 mins. But dont worry shes getting better n going to a bunch of specialist next week. I'm just glad we got her to the damn docotor. She was very pissed to begiun with, but realises it was fer the best. My mom just recently has been to the hospital twice. She wont tell me what is going on. She's been dating someone that, I guess it over now cause she was cryin. But I have my own boyfriend problems. My gram is messing up my life. She is such a !!! Anyway I miss my Chunky and I am in love with him. I am worried I am gonna end up like her.

Well as far as the cancer doctor can see so far the cancer is not back. Her mental state is still a little off but is doing better. So hopefully she'll be home by the weekend. On another note my daughter and her friend left the hospital with my uncle, my uncle is diabetic and been having trouble with it. On the way home his sugar dropped and he became disoriented and didn't know what he was doing. He started yelling at my daughter and swerving all over the road. She told him to pull over so they could get out and he almost hit the guard rail my daughter had to pull the steering wheel or they would have hit. I left the hospital about 45 minutes after them and happen to come upon them stopped by the police. At one point his blood sugar wouldn't even register. My daughter and her friend had gotten out of the truck and called 911. They both were so scared they didn't know what to think. What a night and I thought I was gonna have a quiet evening at home.

Well everyone mom finally got operated on yesterday, n luckly there was no stones in her kidney, just infection and scar material. But she looks 100 percent better today, more like her old self than she has in months. Shes just tired as hell n give out. I thank everyone fer thier prayers n concern, i do appericate it. Well..here i am again...as you know, it wasn't but weeks, just weeks ago that i put my Daddy to rest...Mom and i spent two and half months walking through steps to get Dad set with hospice, getting him home, tending to home only briefly for the seven days he was home before he passed..Mom and Daddy were married 35 years, yes, she is, she was my step mom, but the only woman i call Mom...me and mine were beginning to heal, to try to move forward, i sent Mom off to Hawaii for 10 days, she didnt want to go; i said she needed to get out of the house, to go sit in the sun, see the beauty...she went kickin' and screamin..lol...she got home 4 days ago..now the house was quiet..the kids and grandkids gone, friends had stopped coming by in droves with condolenses and well wishes...she was now feeling what life would be for her; alone...she sat to eat her supper, turned on the TV...she always said these days she was so tired she had to nap before she slept...she was tired, sad, broken-hearted...s

For those who have not read my profile my mother has bone cancer and has been struggling with it for over 8 years now. Well yesterday she was taken to the hospital, yet again. She was throwing up blood, not a lot, but some. They are wanting to do tests now. I dont know if she is going to let them. She is so tired of fighting. My mom has been in the nursing home for about 3 weeks now. She wears oxygen and tripped and fell in the cords at home. She was on the floor for 6 hours. She finally heard the mailman come to the door and she screamed, so he climbed in the window and called 911. She ended up breaking her leg below the knee. She is in the home for rehabilitation. I am so very proud of her. She is finally up and walking now in therapy....and has made so many new friends. I told her that she has much more of a social life now that she isn't home...She goes to Bingo and down to the cafeteria now and also listens to live music when they have it there. My mom has endured so much in her lifetime. Losing her first daughter, which I couldnt even imagine losing my son...I would probably lose my mind!! She showed so much strength for "moving on" after my sister passed in order to take care of us kids. She also survived a brain aneurysm in 1988, just two years after. They removed the blood

After four failed biopsy's we finnaly have an answer. My mom was diagnoised with cancer today. They gave her to options for treatment centers 1)Boston or 2)Manhatten..So my time here on fubar will be cut majorly as I prepare to help her in recovery..Ur prayers are appreciated and support is greatly accepted..

My sister, Adele, and I took mom to the emergency room Tuesday evening. Took her an hour to use the bathroom at home; she was having trouble catching her breath. Upon arrival, her oxygen level was 60 and it should be over 90. After many tests, they concluded she has pneumonia coupled with congestive heart failure, but the CHF wasn't really a real issue as opposed to the pneumonia. They gave her oxygen using a mask but also did it using the nose piece. She couldn't maintain oxygen level over 90 with the nose piece so she was admitted to ICU using the mask. They said she may just be in ICU for 12 hours or something like that then moved to a regular room. Said if all goes well she should be home in a few days, but pneumonia is nothing to sneeze at, excuse the pun. Oh and mom will be 85 on the 27th of this month. Adele and I left the hospital around 2:30 Wednesday morning. She is going to drive a co-worker to work in the morning the go see mom for a bit. Please keep mom

Hello to all my Friends and Family, here on Fubar!! It's been 5 months since I have had a good chance to come here. Mom is dying from uteran cancer and is in Hospice. She has been sick for a couple of years but has taken a turn for the worst and me and my kids have been spending as much time that we can with her in the nursing home she is in.It's really hard because she is all I have left except my kids and my grandsons. I am grateful I have kids and grandsons, but having a tuff time with the feelings for Mom. I am sober and I don't want to drink...but when that day comes I am going to need support. I know I am reaching out for help here from my Friends here. I will try and get here as much as possible and let everyone know whats going on with my Mom. In October my mother was diagnosed with Breast cancer. It was but wasn't a shock to her. Her grandmother and her mother both had it and passed away from it. What did shock her was how far advanced it was when she was able to see the dr. On December 21, 2007 she had a radical masectomy of the right side performed. She was home the same day and had NO pain at all. She was well enough to attend Christmas Eve Services at church. In January she had a port installed by her heart for the chemo treatments. Right now she is on a treatment plan of 4 chemo treatments in 12 week period. On the week she doesn't have chemo she has to get a shot to produce white blood cells. The day after she has the chemo she has to have a shot. We don't know which is worse... the shot or the chemo. All we know is that the physically active woman we love is now only able to stay up for just a few hours at a time. I know this is a lot to take in a short blog... but what I am trying to get at is.. .

January 19th. 1990 had to be the worst day of my life. I don't know if anyone read the last blog, prolly not, but uhm my mom has passed. She didn't pass in surgery, but rather a week and a half later due to the fact the doctors are fucking morons. Kinda the reason why I haven't been here, been in and out. Trying to deal, but my brain won't let me. Thank you for the people that do care, and check on me (Frost, Punky and Slasher). My mother is home from the hospital. they have given her new meds and she will be seeing several different Dr's in the first week of Jan. They have only said that the meds should help with the chest pain. They were unable to do any procedures on her due to scaring and they way her bypasses were done. I swear to fucking god i hate my mom. I do everything i can for her and she does nothing but bitch. I am taking her to the doctor tomorrow but i cant do anything today so she says if i dont step up for her tomorrow then she never speaking to me again yet what does today have to do with tomorrow? Cant add Granny without my mother. My mother and I wernt close til the year before she died. I was in my early 20'when she died, that wasnt too long ago. She was a mean but funny lady. Life had delt her a pretty crappy hand. She did the best she could being a mom and dad, with no job skills, and a family who constatly used and abused her. She needed my help paying bills when i was barely old enough to work. I do admit, my additude didnt make life to easy on her. She was kicked around by her mother, her well-to-do sister used her as cheap labor and 4 ex husbands. So yes, she lived a hard life. I miss hearing her childish jokes and how she saw life. I think i took some of her traits of being a loner and silly humor. When i was 2, my so-called father left and took everything of value. Still she tried to remain in high sprits. He little spirts of anger and jokes and her talks is what i miss the most. I wonder if my mother was still alive today, would she be proud of me.......

I haven't done THIS in a long long time! Soooo....been taking care of Mom for 5 years now & just found a personal care home for her! Wow!
