Remembering A Life Well Lived
Savta Hannah passed away yesterday afternoon. She was 3 months shy of becoming a centurion, she was born in Kolodenka, Ukraine. As a newlywed, her husband was taken by the Russian Army to never return to meet his son. She fled to the mountains of the Ukraine with her infant, not circumsizing him for fear of being targeted as Jews. There she stayed until it was safe to travel to Kiev. She raised her son on her own as most all of her family had perished by either the Russian Army or Hitler's Henchmen. Around 1975 she made her way to Israel where she became a nurse and helped raise her now 3 grand children. She then moved to Nigeria for a few years, then back to Israel..finally making it to the United States in 1986 where she remained, illegally until passing her Citizenship exam around 1997. She led an extrordinary life by all accounts. She is survived by her Son, daughter in law, 3 grandson's, and 7 great grandchildren. RIP Savta Hanna Feldman...a life well lived!

Everybody with a little age on them remembers September 11, 2001. It is etched in our memories and should be forever. It is a part of our history like the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor or the day Oswald shot JFK. You will always be able to remember what you were doing when you first heard the news. I remember 9/11 very well. It started like any other day. Then I heard the news of a plane hitting one of the Twin Towers. I turned on the television. I watched the smoke rolling from the top of the building and was dumb-struck as I saw a second plane hit the other building, the explosion going through out the majestic giant. I realized that, while the first collision may have been an accident, the second could only be an attack. I thought of the people trapped in the upper stories of those buildings. ‎.remember when.....Checking out at the grocery store recently, the young cashier suggested I should bring my own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. I apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days." The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. 9/11 Rememberance
Screams echoed in fear, glass shattered, rubble fell and fire roared as lives came to a end. The Twin Towers that stood strong and proud, are but shadowed remains, of there once known power. Families torn apart with grief and loss, and as the smoke and dust settled, the sight we saw became Ground Zero. Our flag came to half mast, in rememberance of fire fighters, police officers and the rest of the lives that were taken on this day. We will never forget 9/11, and the scar it placed on our hearts.

This displacement that I have is a long lasting desire that has yet to be fulfilled. You can see it in my eyes and the strain of every heart beat of this empty void is its expression upon my face. A 9-11 Rememberance.....
I was working in North Bergen NJ at the time...for Liz Claiborne. Normally I'd take Route 3 to work but I decided to take route 80 (as I figured less traffic and I'm always a few minutes late to work...much to my bosses chargrin). I made it on to Tonelle Avenue (which is a main road about 4 blocks from where I worked). 4 lanes of traffic were merged into 2 as a huge water main broke. I grew up in a decade when, values and a sense of community and family were deep-rooted. A time when everyone helped each other and where everyone knew each other. Back doors were never locked and every-man and his dog were welcome to grab a deck chair and sit and drink tea in the garden, whilst discussing how well the roses were doing or how work was going. An era where, friends were just that and kids grew up in a wider social network than just their own parents, and; if you did wrong you got a thick ear off whichever elder was nearest! and god forbid they told your parents, because you'd get another when you went home! Where people valued each other and relied on those that could afford the luxuries of TV or a telephone, it was never held against people. Growing up I lived on the corner of a little cul-de-sa, in one of the old prefabs that had been built after the war as temporary housing, they had been there for over 30 years when mum, dad and myself as an infant moved in.

Reminiscing
Over the past week, I've been hunting down all of the 35mm hardcopy photographs of Mou's and my life together. Found a lot - not just times Mou and I had, but times as well that Mou and her ex-husband and her family had as well - Scottish line dancing, trips to see her sisters and parents; school reunion pictures; child hood pictures, trips all over the world; so much more. Incredible contrast. Mou went to Europe and Russia many times, did the tourista thing as a student and later with her ex-husband. So did Mou and her family. Me and Mou? Hard to put into words. I showed Mou another side of life; camping, roughing it - the simple pleasures in life that had nothing to do with high society(?) I literally was/am her mountain man, showing and sharing with her a side of life that she'd never experienced before, which she deeply enjoyed - more, as she shared with me many times, than the times she'd had with her family and Andy doing the upper-class tourista bit. Ever wake up one day and everything you thought about something or believed just doesn't seem to be anymore? I have been content with my life and how things are in it until I was on my way to work today and saw this sweet little old couple sitting in Dunkin Donuts. Then my entire drive to work was just reflecting on my life and what I really want in it and how I want it to turn out. As some of you know I grew up most of my life as an only child. Until my mother remarried. Then I got a step sister. Yeah she was older than I was, but only by a couple of years...and yes she was a pain in the ass most times. But we shared something in common. WE LOVED ROLLER COASTERS! Not sure how many of you that read my blogs actually pay attention to the music that is in my stash. I know sometimes I just go through and rate unless something really catches my eye. Anyway, If you do pay attention, you'll notice that I have a very wide variety of music stashed. A Reminder In Case The Neurological Department Ask.
Well, I thought I had better note this before I forget and then have to admit, to whomsoever rings up to enquire about my seizure status, that I could not remember when it was. I have increased my medication 50 mg so that is 200mg am and 250mg pm. This was done because I am not pig headed and just felt the murmurings of something which I thought would be better nipped in the bud. I did not want to increase but it seemed prudent to do so. I have not had another seizure to date. It is coming up to the 2nd anniversary of the worst 17 days of my life. I do not regret having the surgery for all the problems as life has improved no end in so many respects. For instance, I do not have to worry about leaving things in the gangway in case I have a seizure and break my neck on it whilst having an absence, which is the form the seizures took. A Reminder
As alot of you know I am involved with alot of charity work. I am putting together my christmas charity drive now and have been soliciting the donations pretty heavy. Tonight I went to pick up a computer that a family was donating to the drive from a nearby town. As I was talking to the lady her daughter came out of her bedroom carrying two plastic grocery bags full of toys. She handed them to me and said "I want you to give these to another kid that can use them".."for christmas". I looked at her mom who gave me a nod and I crouched down to take the bags from her. I asked her "how old are you"? She said "im 7" and showed me that many on her fingers. then she said "I will be 8 on Dec 15th" I almost cried. That episode reminded me of why I do this stuff. Its a tough year this year for a lot of families, more than normal. If you have it, give it. Someone will be glad you did and the feeling is unforgettable. happy holidays

Reminiscing
I’ve been doing a little reminiscing over the past few days… My earliest childhood memory was my fourth birthday party. That memory is as clear as day to me. I remember all of my family crammed around our kitchen table…my older brother, my four older sisters, my dad, and my mom, who was holding onto my younger sister, and my aunt and uncle who lived right next door to us. I blew out my birthday candles and then had a huge piece of cake and a scoop of ice cream. One of the folks didn't think she had to to do that...or, what we were reading into it was that she wasn't ready to do that. We told her that it was okay. Remodeling And Moving Is A Real B**ch
For the last 3 days or so my hunny and I have been working in the apt downstairs from us so we can move down into that one because its downstairs and has a little more room in it. Its been a real pain though because of needing to shampoo rugs and patch nail holes and paint. we are waiting for new linoleum to be installed as well and there is just SOOO MUCH to do and not enough time to get it done with mike working and me not knowing how to do alot of the repairs. I am doing what I can though and trying to pack things up little by little so that we can get moved down there as soon as we can. the new stove and washing machine was dropped off today and we started the painting in the livingroom today so we made a little progress. I guess I just needed to vent about it a little because mike is a tow truck driver and he kept getting called away today to locks outs and jump starts and such that we didnt make as much progress as we wanted to. such is life I guess and I will get cracking

The Rendall Building
The Rendall Building The Rendall Building is located at 601 Texas Street in downtown Shreveport, and is said by some to be one of the most haunted places in town. This building was built in 1922 on the site of another building that was also owned by the Rendall's. Since it originally was a drug store, the basement was essentially a large walk-in freezer. Conveniently enough, the Caddo Courthouse is only a stone's throw from the Rendall Building, so the Rendall's large freezer was used to keep the corpses on ice. It is also said that some of the local funeral homes also used the freezer for their corpses. I might have been an ADD or ADHD child that never was properly diagnosed as one, or perhaps, I have developed it as an adult; I simply do not know. Last month, we took a trip to Las Vegas and if you've ever driven to Vegas from Southern California, you know that one of the lowlights of your trip is hopping on the I-15. Why?
