Ok. The first of a no doubt long and tedious serial of my lack of understanding of american culture, language etc etc. #1 School system. Can someone explain to me the US system, ages, schools etc cos I don't know my sophomore from my junior high. In the uk it (used) to go something like this: under 5s - nursery/ playgroup/ playschool 5 to 7 - infants (or 5 to 11 primary) 7 to 11 - juniors (or 9 to 13 prep school/ middle school) 11 to 15 - seniors / high school 16 to 18 - 6th form / college 18 to 21 - university undergrad then postgrad etc Or something approaching that. Well, today was the first day of my retirement, overall it went pretty well. Of course what do you do with a workaholic that's used to working 12-14 hours a day who is told to stop working all of a sudden like. I did sleep alot today. I didn't get up til about 5:30pm(of course I didn't go to bed til around 7am). I got up, made coffee, discovered that there's not a whole lot on tv at 5:30pm, then re-organized my entire kitchen, cleaned everything-walls, floors, etc. and cooked dinner. After dinner, watched csi on spiketv and rolled about 5 packs of cigarettes. Then I typed up a grocery list check sheet and worked out a new budget on the computer-now that our family income just got cut in half. Checked email-then gave up (i have about 200 emails). If you can't tell, it's only the first day and I'm already bored out of my freakin' mind!! Anyone that has any suggestions to help me combat boredom for a total type-A personality, give me a shout.

Never posted a blog on here before, but what the fuck.....Life has been fucked up lately...for those who actually know me, you know that that is no suprise. Hey folks, just wanted to drop a line to you all and let you know that I'm not avoiding you. We are still shoveling out from a minor blizzard, and the biggest thing right now is that a couple of days ago I had Lasik surgery on my eyes. I have been off and on with a guy since September as most of you know. We both love each other yet have had trouble making things work. Well I went on a date last Saturday. The next day I went out with this guy I have been off and on with. We decided to try once more. He was going to move out of the country but decided to stay for me. So, I am very close to zero hour. It is currently Thursday and I ship out on Monday. Yeah, only a few days. Have you ever just been so pissed off for no apparent reason that you feel like you could just rip someones head clean off. Where you feel like everytime you make a decision its the wrong one. Happy Weekend
Well this weekend was a special one for me. On Saturday my daughters and I headed to Vegas so my oldest could get her first tattoo. You may wounder why Vegas, because California doesn't allow anyone under 18 to get a tattoo. My daught is 16 and in Vegas she could get one with my conscent, which I was very happy to do. Well, it's time to update all my blogs. I typically type out one entry and put the same thing on each of my webpages, so if you've read one of my blogs, you've likely read them all. Well, for those that don't know, I've been sick as all holy hells since early November. Having a hard time keeping food down, severe stomach pain, throwing up, yeah, it's been great fun. We've now done blood work, I got the dignity of peeing in a cup, an ultrasound, and an endoscopy. Joy. Well, I now apparently know what gallstones feel like. I got back to the doc in 2 weeks, if I can last until then, to find out if they are going to do the surgery to remove it. I say let them take the thing since I don't really need it anyways. Other than that, things are going well. I'll be taking a trip to Chapel Hill on the 25th. Also for those that don't know, I go down there about every 3 months

I'm not sure how to start this or even where I am heading with it. We'll see.... I've made a few observations during my time here. We all do it to an extent... we develop an interest in someone. There is a certain spark that intrigues us about another. We look for it in pictures or comments that are mutually left. Perhaps we have even instant messaged back and forth or maybe just maybe talked on the phone. But there is a concept here that I'm sure is the subject of many masters thesis and if it isn't it may just become mine... Have you noticed that we tend to build up our e-friends just a tad bit? People that I know are always telling me how good government schools (public schools) are. The more that I think about it the more I disagree. I don't understand some people. Sometimes I think I have everybody around me figured out. Then something happens and it causes a domino effect and nothing makes sense anymore. What makes a work of art great to you? Well, I suppose more importantly; do you actually CARE about works of art? My personal views on the whole thing seem to differ from the art "community". That's fine by me, I just wonder if anyone else sees things the same way. Like most things in my life, the art that appeals to me is that which creates some sort of emotional response. I can stare at certain "masterpieces" all day long - I can appreciate the colors or lines or what the hell ever and yet, if it doesn't envoke some sort of "FEELING" I just don't "get it". I should also point out that I am speaking of all forms of visual art; paintings, drawing, statues, photographs, tattoos...they all fall under MY category of "art". There are works of art that have impacted me deeply enough that I have never forgotten the emotions I felt the first time I saw them. I have seen pictures that have created a place that I need to visit or have introduced a person that I long to know.

For those who stumble in here looking for something incredibly humorous or deeply profound...I apologize. This is more of a rant...a venting. Feel free to add your own if needed or so desired. So it seems that no matter where I am to work, my own success bites me in the arse. Two jobs ago, my ability to multitask and quickly learn new tasks increased my responsibilities and expectancies some three times the load, but not a cent increase in pay. How lovely is that! Shoulda stuck to minimum expectations. Last job was similar...and now the new job is finding out how much they love me, and are trying to work me to death. "He can handle and 11 hour day..." "He can handle two doubles in a row" and now, the most recent, they have me working back-to-back-to-back double shifts. Anywhere from 10-13 hours a day, for three days straight. New Year
Another year has come and gone. A lot of good things happened in 2006, and a lot of shit happened too. Especially in the last month. My brother broke up with his fiance and mother of his son. My bf and I have had our own issues to work out. My car decided that it didn't like me and broke down twice. That took money that I don't have. I hate not having a job. I hate going to my mom and asking for money. But that's all behind me now. I'm going down to help my brother move and sell his house. My bf and I are still reacquienting ourselves (he was gone for 2 months to get work out of town) and he might have to go back if he can't find work here. But we all are moving on. First of i like this place dont get me wrong. Ppl come here 2 make friends...cool.
