The Los Angeles Times (via Boing Boing) recently ran a story on the remarkably resilient Centennial Bulb—a four-watt, curlicue carbon-filament lightbulb that, give or take a few brief interludes, has been burning for 24 hours a day, seven days a week for more than a century. The bulb has become something of a lucky charm for Livermore firefighters, who (according to the LA Times story) won't even dust off the bulb for fear of damaging it. Indeed, when the department moved to a new fire station in 1976, firefighters decided to cut the power cord rather than unscrew the fragile bulb from its socket. It is amazing what, when you don't feel all that small normally, what some chains on some ceiling fans which are too short for one to reach can make one seem so much smaller than normal. I have had some extremely short chains on the ceiling fan/light fixtures throughout my apartment. Chained Romance.
Hello, First time here. I just want to say Hello to all who happen to stop by, view this. The name is Gerard West. Bassist and Back up Vocals of Chained Romance. I have several friends on another website who are what I like to refer to as chain daters. This website gives you the standard social networking feed that tells you everybody's business. Our light is part of the illumination of the whole universe which is also light energy in many different aspects of manifestation. In Zen and other Eastern teachings they have pictures of what are called chakras of the body, that are representive of areas of importance in the body - aka energy points. It is thought by some that this energy can flow up the spine and produce a visionary encounter called enlightenment. The spine is the famous serpent or snake. In meditations they follow the flow of energy to the different areas of the body for lightworking purposes. I FOUND OUT WEDNESDAY THAT I NEED TO HAVE BACK SURGERY. ONE OF THE DISC'S IN MY LOWER BACK HAS TOTALLY COLLAPSED AND I HAVE TO HAVE TO BONES FUSED TOGETHER BECAUSE MY ENTIRE PELVIC AND HIP AREA IS SLIPPING FOWARD, AND IF I DO NOT HAVE THE SURGERY I COULD BECOME PARALYZED. IN ADDITION TO THAT WONDERFULO NEWS (LOL) I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH NO FAMILY AROUND AND NO SIGNIFICANT OTHER. MY SPIRIT IS FAILING ME NOW AND I DON'T HAVE THE WILL TO DO ANYTHING. Oh, Lord. Why oh why was I so stupid? Once again I have screwed up and lost something dear to me in my life. I know now I try to hard! But at least I'm trying, right? I dont know anymore. I can already feel it, my heart, hardening. Preparing to not allow any hope, feeling, emotion, care, in nor out, and I'm scared! My attitude has changed and I dont think for the best. Is the devil consuming me? It burns to know and to feel these feelings in which are not my own. I look to the sky for the light, and yet find only darkness. Is this a test? A trial? A challenge? I have faced many in my lifetime and made it this far. But I don't know if one such as this will consume me, or let me consume it! I know not, and so I pray, for forgiveness, and guidence!!!

Challah French Toast
6 Eggs 1/2 c Heavy cream, half-and-half -or milk 1 t Cinnamon 1/4 ts Salt 4 tb To 6 T clarified butter 8 sl Challah, cut 1-inch thick Beat the eggs together with cream, half-and-half, or milk. Beat in cinnamon and salt. Melt the butter in a large frying pan. Dip the challah slices, one at a time, into the egg mixture, making sure that each slice is well coated. The challah should absorb a little of the egg mixture but not enough to get soggy. Fry each battered challah slice for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Don't fry too fast or the inside will be wet and gooey. Serve with your favorite jam, maple syrup, honey, cinnamon, sugar, or plain. NOTE: Heavy cream really is the best liquid to use in this recipe.

Challah Back Girl
after recovering from the most vile non-fatal form of plague known to mankind, i had a day off work today in which i actually felt well enough to get off my arse and do something constructive. so, i made my first ever batch of challah. real from scratch, no box, no bread machine, hand-mixed, hand kneaded, hand-braided challah. 4 and a half hours and 34 steps later i am now the proud maker of two gorgeous, delicious double braided loaves of challah. one traditionally topped with poppy seeds and one with cinnamon sugar. yum! there is no more lovely smell than the smell of that stuff baking. and i didn’t catch anything on fire! :P i am so proud of myself it’s ridiculous. i even took pictures and emailed them off to israel so rabbi josh could see my handiwork. now, i am off to enjoy another slice of fabulous, fluffy, golden baked heaven. carbs be damned, i earned a little indulgence for all that effort.

The challenges we face in life are suppose to make us stronger. How strong do we have to be? The pain we face in life is supposed to make us feel alive. How much pain does one have to endure? The losses in life are supposed to make us appreciate what we have. What is left when there is nothing else left to loose? They say these life experiences help to form us into who we are. If these experience make us who we are. What does that say about us? Then again if it were easy we would probably just take life for granted.
