Time is something I do not think anyone actually grasps or truly begins to comprehend until they them selves have recognized that they are in somewhat of short supply themselves, and or complete lack of it. Even fewer after accepting take the whole concept to a new level of reality and address this even now, questions such as where did it go? How did it slip by so fast and why didn’t I recognize this sooner? Almost instantly a second set of questions start to run for example endless counts of what could have been. Where I Live
I have been asked a few times what's it like where I live. Just thought I would write about what it is like around the area that I live in. Well as I say on my profile I live in North Shields, a town on the north bank of the river Tyne just east of the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne and just over a mile from the north sea. Well...
Figures...I finally get the chance to test for a professional fire/rescue company in Virginia, and not only do I lack the gas money to get there, but my brakes are fairly well shot. So even if I had the gas money, I wouldn't be able to make it with the way my brakes are. I applied to the company about a month ago and just finally heard from them, and it would just figure that the day I got the letter inviting me to test would be the same day that my brake lines blows out on me. It's my luck...I should probably just accept it as such, but I refuse. One of these days, I WILL make it down to test, and hopefully it's soon so I don't lose the chance.

I went to the SC State Fair yesterday with some of my closest friends (Guy, his mother, Karen, and her sister Kris). We left out at 9am and arrived at the fairgrounds around 11am along with hundreds of other people. We got through the ticket lines relatively easy and within minutes I was at the fair with my ride-for-free bracelet around my wrist. Now, I went to the fair this year with three goals in mind: to eat a carmel apple, to ride as many rides as possible, and to have fun. Within an hour of being there, I had a delicious carmel apple in my tummy. Of course, later in the day, it was followed by vanilla/chocolate swirled ice cream in a waffle cone, a philly cheesesteak, lemonade, and Diet Coke (gotta watch my weight - hehehehe). So, mark that one off my list. Ask those who went with me and they'll tell you that I was riding nearly everything in sight. Avoiding the kiddie rides, I went straight for the rides with names like Inverter, Spider, Swing Tower, and Fireball.

For dinner last night I made a dish from my childhood. It is SIMMERED LION'S HEAD. No, it doesn't have any lion meat in it, rather the final dish should resemble a lion head (in an artsy fartsy way.) It is also a dish served on high occasions, as it contains enough meat to peasant feed a family for a week. It has relatively few ingrediants and should be enjoyed for the richness and simplity of the dish. SIMMERED LION'S HEAD 2 lbs ground pork 1 T rice wine or dry sherry 1/2 t salt 1/2 t msg 1 T sugar 1 T minced green onion 1 T minced ginger 1 egg 2 T corn starch Combine the above with the pork and mix well. My Mom would tell you to mix in one direction only, don't ask why, just do it! If the meat is lean add up to 3 T water. Now make a slurry of the following: 2 T soy 1 T corn starch 2 T water Divide the meat into 8 equal portions and form into meatballs, big meatballs. Then, coat the meatball with the slurry. Well... it happened - my dad passed away Thursday morning, right after the two student nurses who came in to clean him up and change his sheets evicted me from his room. It's almost like he was waiting for me to leave. At least he didn't linger in pain for weeks. His last words were to my mother: he said "the boss" when she asked him if he knew who she was. The funeral was yesterday. A couple of you are aware that my father has been undergoing treatment for cancer, specifically lymphoma. Last week, we had to put him back in the hospital for dehydration and disorientation. A CAT scan was ordered because he'd fallen, and something was detected on his brain, so he underwent an MRI and spinal tap. Today the results are in, and they're not good. The growth on his brain is carcinoma, a far more aggressive form of cancer. It would still be treatable if it were more lymphoma, but with carcinoma, there's no point. Shans Life Update...
Well Well Well... Life's life.. Its neither overly exciting or dull and drab. We are all healthy.. WoOhOo! So my daughter decided to sit on her silly putty on the couch........talk about being mad, I had silly putty on her shorts and the couch seat, all in the 80 degree frontroom. Seth went to the hospital on Friday (September 16th) afternoon. I took him in to E.R. at about 2:30 because he was having trouble with his breathing. They checked his oxygen level and it was at 84% right when we got there and I have given him three or four breathing treatments prior to the hospital visit. So they gave him three more breathing treatments and a dose of prednisolone (a steroid) and checked his oxygen level again and it was only at 89%... It's supposed to be up to 96%. So they kept him! They just put him on oxygen to help boost it up, but he ended up staying over-night at the hospital and the doctor said it was a good thing he was there because he got worse through the night. His oxygen level dropped to 88% WITH the oxygen. He was still on oxygen on Saturday and was keeping his level steady between 95 and 98%, but they kept him over-night again on Saturday. His oxygen got turned off Sunday morning FINALLY and he maintained an oxygen level between 95 and 97% on his

My oldest granddaughter just gave birth to a beautiful little girl. I was there for the delivery and got to cut the cord. Her name is Harley Renee Elizabeth Larson. She was born on 11/30/06 at 6:07pm Pacific time. She is 19 inches long and weighed 7 pounds 12.6 ounces. this is the daughter of my oldest girl that was murdered almost 2 years ago.
