My parents have lived in an area for almost 10 years, I now live in the area, and have been so for nearly 2 years... throughout the past 10 years I have frequented the local pub... ...now... for you Americans... a local british pub/bar is where local people go to socialise theres always a mandatory old man in the corner who is always there but never says anything, a resident alcoholic whos constantly making a fool of himself, and about half a dozen kids playing around... ...anypoo... my local used to be lovely, you could go there to see your mates, have a cheap meal and have fun... but my god has it gone down hill... Since this new manageress has started they've gone to pot... they bought in a no hat rule and told an elderly gentleman who wore a TRILBY that he wasn't allowed to wear it anymore, so this poor old man who had been going there for years, left the pub having felt unwelcomed, and never returned... (big awwww plz) They then changed the menu... not different food... just double the damn prices!!!! They then made up other stupid dumb ass rules... and then... god forbid... kept running out of beer!!! a pub with no beer!!! (and no we didn't all drink the place dry ) But this is the clincher... They often run out of food on the menu... when they had a strawberries and steak promotion they ran out of strawberries and steak even when the pub wasn't busy!! but yesterday I took my best friend and son to the pub after school for a nice meal and was told that meals weren't available between 3 and 5 although a MASSIVE sign outside, chalk signs inside and above the bar AND the menu all stated that you could get 2 meals for £4.95 between 12 and 5! Alas, I got annoyed, so emailed the pub chain who runs the pub (or is running it into the ground in my eyes) and complained... I was told because of the snow the kitchen had closed and this would never happen again (wtf what did the snow ever do??) but the manager of the pub had told me that this was a regular thing to cut costs... hmmmm... false advertising and different information... I then went back today and the same thing happened! I emailed the boss boss boss back and am waiting his reply about the conflicting bits of info... wonder what he'll say... The pub is the hub of the community wjhere people meet and have fun... it has now become a baron wasteland... whatever shall I do lol
