Icarus's blog: "Hurts to watch."

She waited all freaking day to get back to me.
That's an entire weekend I'm going to piss away that I could've been at someone else's house watching movies
and various other activities.

Like playing pong.
Wait... I can still do that.

I don't have anything particularly interesting to say. Tomorrow will be good because it will be quiet.
I won't have to beat anyone to death with an improvised weapon unless I want to.
And... I dunno, isn't that cause enough to celebrate?

No?
Well fuck you then.
And fuck the boat you came in on.
And fuck that boat's mother.

Alright, I've all but decided on a few lineups.

"Paint it Black" Zaku II 1/100 with Hot Licks decal.
Now if I could just find a 4 inch mic stand...

Dom colors 1/144 Gouf with 9 ring chinese broadsword

1/100 Mass produced Zeta C-class.
I know... a few things about this kit
It has fewer beveled armor surfaces, and fins rather than plates when compared to the original Zeta.
It has blue beam sabers.
I like that.
The story's inundated with pink greens and yellow.

I'd

-rather-
shop a pair of dark-gray translucent beam sabers

holy fuck can you imagine how hard that'd be?

I'd have to find the plastic... grind the plastic, sand, and then fit it into a couple handles.

or take a silicone cast of the originals and create a mold and...

... that's actually a pretty cool idea.

It may finally answer my question of "how the fuck did that guy get red beam axes on his custom Sinanju?".

Alright for the moment
let's 86 the custom plastic casting.

...

god damn though
if I had a consistent supply of resin, the right solvents, the right...

I wouldn't even have to paint, I could just add color to the polymers and cast new parts.

"what's that... only ONE shotgun with this model?"
"you say you want sixty bazookas?"
...

*scratches his beard*
It's not really that far a step in technical difficulty compared to airbrushing and effects.
Hell, people custom shop and grind parts all the time
though I'll be damned if they'll tell me from what materials and where they get their supply.

But this would be additive as opposed to a reductive technique.
Filling as opposed to shaving.

Who needs to buy a limited edition clear parts or metallic finish unit if you can feesibly recast the parts yourself?

Mad science...

course the MG version 2's have too many parts and articulation points...
but changing armor color or just creating duplicate parts...

I could cast another gatling shield. And that right there is at least 40 individual parts.

... definitely seeing some potential for it.
Spare weapons. Casting rather than shopping holsters. Color modification to translucent or transparent parts.
Now if only there was a way I could mirror cast.
The Gouf is one example of asymetrical design
one hand's a machine gun, the other is fully articulated.
You don't have the parts available to do both or switch sides.
What if I wanted to do the heavy arms Gouf variant with double machine guns?
I'd have to grind 2 hands because god knows I couldn't grind one that looked EXACTLY like factory.

What if I wanted to give a zaku II 2 shields but didn't want to strip a complete kit to do it....

wait .....

*thinks back to how his Zaku II's shoulders are designed*

I always wanted to do a 2 shield or 2 spike Zaku... I really think I can with 2 kits... but man that's excessive.
I think the shoulder covers were modular. I think it's a simple issue of having 2 part sets and orbitting them to match.
Big emphasis on "I think"
Too bad the kit and instructions are at work.

This guy knows what I'm talking about:

Not so obvious tric
is not so obvious.
While the suit on the left
LOOKS like the Ms07B3 Custom Gouf.
It's not

Look at the leg hoses, the base at the legs isn't wide enough, and those forearms with the tubular appearance are clearly Zaku II or even Zaku I parts.

Also, that's the symetrical zaku shoulder I'm talking about, the Gouf shoulders flare up and curve in significantly more.

Also

It looks like he used that crazy putty stuff a lot of plamo builders use, but looking at the little puckered lines on the shoulders, its possible he molded and cast those.
That's the kind of production hickies you get in that process.

Mad props to this guy. Custom shopped parts, smooth colors, matching color pallette. Great matte finish, and great effect work on the lines decals and exhaust ports.
Let me tell you- those parts on the gun, and on those dots with the red on em on the shin
are like ... the size of a ball point pen tip. Also- double machine guns. You know why.
