zebra's blog: "ME - AS IS"

I met myself along a road
and thought I was a jerk,
so I punched myself in the nose
and wondered why it hurt.

I called myself some dirty words
and was the only one who cared,
I looked around to see who heard,
but no one else was there.

It was frightening for me to find
I hadn't any help,
And how did I get left behind
alone to face myself?

But there I was with only me,
staring myself down,
so I looked deep in hopes to see
some good that could be found.

I wasn't overwhelmed
with stunning qualities, for sure,
but I felt that if I stuck around
I'd get to see much more.

So now myself and I are friends
united in a faith
that we'll accomplish better ends
than what we met that day.
