Zooey Deschanel reveals her slim post-baby body in bright dress
Zooey Deschanel is looking in great shape just a few months after welcoming her first child, daughter Elsie Otter.
The 35-year-old cuddled up to new husband Jacob Pechenik at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, showing off slim figure in the process.
Zooey looked lovely in a colourful red, pink and black colourblock dress, which was cinched in at her petite waist with a black skinny belt.
The New Girl star also wore black tights tucked into matching pumps with white detail on them, and carried a gold clutch bag.
Zooey wore her brunette locks in a bouffant style and finished off her look with black eyeliner and shiny red lipstick.
Meanwhile Jacob looked suave in a classic black tuxedo with skinny tie and dress shoes.
The actress and the producer welcomed their first child in July and secretly tied the knot in June, before the birth.
A source claimed to Us Weekly earlier this week that Zooey 'converted to Judaism for Jacob,' with a second insider adding: 'They’re loving the baby and marriage.'
Zooey was raised with an open mind by her Roman Catholic mother and her Quaker dad, and encouraged to find her own spiritual path in life.
'My family is liberal. I was raised in the "you can be whatever you want" kind of way. And in the end, I was like, "Eh,"' she has said in the past.
Last month, Zooey appeared on The Today Show and revealed the meaning behind her daughter's unique name.
'We just really loved the name Elsie and we both love otters,' she said. 'They are very sweet and they are also smart. They use tools, they keep their favourite tools. They hold hands while they sleep.
'There are so many amazing things about otters. Who doesn't love otters.'
And Zooey joked of baby Elsie: 'I love otters, she better love otters. We don't know yet because she's only a few months old. But she's going to.'
Following the youngster's birth, her famous mother - who was previously married to Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard - is taking a brief break from her role as Jess Day on New Girl.
It was announced in September that Megan Fox will temporarily be replacing her, portraying a woman named Reagan who rents out Jess's apartment while she is on jury duty.
