In the past week, with naughty photos posted again, I've gained something like 50 new friends. Unfortunately, I suspect that most of them became my friends primarily to see said naughty photos, and have no real interest in friendship.
It's not that I think naughty photos are the only reason anyone wants to become my friend. For one thing, I don't have those kind of self-esteem issues. :) For another, I DIDN'T have naughty photos up for a month, and still gained friends at a fairly steady pace.
And I know there are guys who became my friends simply to see my photos, but were then sucked in by my incredible wit and charm (smirk) and are now good friends, perhaps despite themselves. :)
That said... I'm wondering if the naughty photos are worth it. I post them primarily as an expression of MY self-confidence and sexuality. They end up working as a friends lure, though, and honestly, since I don't want friends merely for numbers and points, all they become is yet another unresponsive person whose blogs and photos I rate and whose profile I comment, and who eventually I just have to purge in one of my purges. Which means, basically, a lot of stupid wasted effort on my part.
At the same time, it feels weird to just put the photos out there for everyone, without having any clue who the people looking at them are.
I could make them family-only. Unfortunately, I know from experience that if I have family-only photos, all I hear all the time is whining about "can I see your photos? Huh, huh?" and usually it's the first I've heard from that person. That is fucking ANNOYING. Also, if you're surfing a random stranger's photos, and a folder is private to you, all you know is that it's private ... you can't tell if it's private to friends or to family. So I'd be bound to get friends requests anyway because they would have no way of knowing.
So the question is -- do I yank the photos? Do I open them to everyone, so the pervs who just want to jack off to CT pics can just do their thing without me ever having to know or care? Do I make them family-only, then deal with all of the ensueing whining?
I'll be thinking about it.
