It's not always easy being a BBW. No matter how much we stand up and say, "BBW Pride" and "Real Women Have Curves," let's face it -- for every guy who's looking at you and thinking, "Wow, she's sexy!" there are ten who are looking at you thinking, "Wow, she's fat!" This is still a world with very rigid standards of beauty, and, while most other forms of open bias have been disposed of, it's still perfectly socially acceptable to bad-mouth "fat people." There's a general conception that if you are "fat," meaning, you have some body fat at all, you are lazy, or constantly stuffing your face. That's true in some cases, but not in many. Many people "of size" regularly exercise and avoid unhealthy food.
That said, in the end, sexiness and confidence come from inside us. We're always going to be *someone's* type, so why not take joy in our bodies and treasure all that makes us a distinctive individual? Noone is free of insecurity (if they say they are, they're lying). Many women who meet the beauty standards of our society are then insecure about other things. "Would anyone want me if I weren't pretty? Am I smart enough? Am I good for anything but being a guy's arm candy?"
It's not easy to stand up and say, "I'm sexy, damnit!" when society tells you that you aren't. I'm so grateful that there's an increasingly vocal and supportive segment of society that says, "It's OK to be whomever you want to be!"
In the end, I don't take NSFW photos of myself for your enjoyment. I don't necessarily take them for my own enjoyment. And, despite what some people think, I don't take them to garner sexual attention; quite frankly, I'm not sure that's the kind of attention I want. I take them because it's me, standing up and saying, "Hey, I'm sexy, even though I'm not your beauty ideal." And screw all the haters!
