Okay so I know that this really ties into my other blog, about there being too many ass clowns. But I like to write things out to get them out of my head. Plus I know that someone is going to want to know what has been happening lately.
Before I can really start, I have to give some back story. First of all I have spent most of my adult life in the military at some capacity. I used to be Infantry before switching to psyop. I have been on tactical teams all this time. I am an operator and I earned the term. When the fit hits the shan, you want me covering you six. I am not the most bad ass guy on the planet, but I know what I am doing when things go that way. When the going gets tough, the tough get cyclic. If you know what that means, we are on the same page.
Currently I am a contractor and I don’t feel bad about the fact that I am not going out on missions. I paid my dues, and I am good at my job. To me, I work for the guys out in the field. They have pretty much the worst danger/force protection ratio of anyone in country. So I do everything I can to make their job more survivable or more comfortable. My creative acquisition skills have come in handy. Overall I do my job, and I am damn good at it.
So I have no time or tolerance for people who are taking up space here. Stop using up good air. Since there is an actual war on, we have to concentrate on what is important. This is where I throw a shout out to my boy, you know who you are. He made an off hand comment that got wayyyy out of control.
Let me make this clear, I have heard multiple sides of the story and what I have some up with is that this is a big “who gives a crap” situation. Everyone who knows me knows that if you are half-stepping, I will call you on it. This is some serious BS. Now normally it wouldn’t be a big deal, but then one of his NCOs wanted to drag me into it.
Forget the fact that an E-6 in the Army should not be a drama queen, but the main point is (and I can’t stress this enough) is do NOT drag me into your drama. Timmy does not have that kind of time. I would put him on the short list just on principle, but to be honest I am working at the big boy level. And honestly, he isn’t important enough to ping my radar.
Let me get back on track, there is a fucking war on!!! I look at this guy and see that he is firmly into ass clown mode. Unfortunately I do not have that kind of time. I can’t be flip with my job right now. I have to on top of everything all the time. If I don’t do my job, it has consequences, if he doesn’t do his, no one will notice.
I don’t want to overstate my own importance. It is my job, my position that is important, that does not make me important. That should show how serious I take it, I am not a humble person by nature. And I am far from tactful. Yet I have been dealing with some of these people in a tactful manner. Trust me; it has been killing me not to tell some officers to kiss my ass. Especially since my boss has given me a free pass to tell them off.
So despite his abuse of power, and assclownery, I don’t have the time to waste on this gomer. Even though he tried to drag me into his BS drama, he is so low on the food chain (based on rank, position, and what he actually does/affects) that I am not going to waste the Wrath of Tim on him.
I would like to add a caveat to that last statement. Your rank does not lessen your contribution to the War on Terror. But because this guy has no effect on anything, his rank does not give him additional points of importance. In fact for being an E-6 and be this big an ass clown, it actually is a minus.
And due to the level of stupidity that it could bring about, I am not going to go into details about the stupid situation. Let me say, that when Timmy was an NCO it never would have happened. It is a situation where the rank doesn’t make the man, the man makes the rank. Congratulations idiot, you are part of the problem. You are exactly why retention is so low.
Now we just need to get everyone to understand that this is a war. It is not a place for you to pad your OER, or get bullet points for your bronze star for achievement. This is a war, not career advancement. Fight it or get the hell out of the way. What has been driving me crazy is that so many people here are dedicated to fighting the war on terror, but so few are trying to win it.
