a very wise and true friend that is dear to my heart told me this:: 

[ "I love you" and "I promise" and "I'm here for you" seem to be easy words for people to say,  but when the chips are down, they're easily forgotten. That's something I know all too well.  It's all well and good to be there, basking in the light with someone, but if you're not willing to stand beside them in the darkness and help them fight the demons that plague them, what good are you? ]

and that is the truth entirely. people throw the word "love" around constantly and way too easily. its one thing to say it but it is entirely another to continuously show it day to day. if you truly love someone then you wouldn't leave no matter how hard the situation is. you can put your pride and ego to the side every mother fucking time for them. you take the good with the bad, the happy with the sad, and most of all the ugly with the beauty. you work through absolutely EVERYTHING together and you don't RUN AND SHUT THEM OUT just because you hit a fucking bump and don't know what to do. no, instead you do everything you can to make them feel wanted and needed. you show them the beauty in the world when all they can see is the ugliness, you help them see the positive over the negative, you become the light when all they can see is darkness, you become their strength when they have none, their smile when all they can do is frown, their shoulder when they can do is nothing but cry. you hold them up when they can't stand, you have their back especially when they aren't around. most of all and most importantly YOU LOVE THEM WHEN THEY CANT SEEM TO LOVE THEMSELVES AND YOU LOVE THEM UNCONDITIONALLY.

when you tell someone you love them and that you want EVERYTHING that comes with them then that means their baggage just as well. you are supposed to help each other unload all that baggage and build each other up not they carry your baggage and theirs and then you kick them when they are down. if you truly love someone then their happiness is more important to you than your own and you fight tooth and nail to keep your relationship alive. you go through all  the ups and downs together because in the end that what matters is over coming it as a unit as a whole and coming out even stronger and closer than before in the end.
