So it's a friday night.
I'm sitting here listening to alot of older house/techno music.
G0d, the memories are flooding in at such a prodigious rate.
Where has the time gone?
Listening to these songs brings back memories...so vivid...so tangible...it's like I can reach out and touch them.
If I had a time machine would I use it?
Well,yes of course!
Of course I'd go back to those fun times @ The Shelter,Nasa,The World,Wild Pitch,Struts,Mars,Red Zone and allthat.
But more importantly,I'd change me.Yea,yea, people say it's never too late to change. I don't buy it.But thats another screed for another blog.
I remember sitting in my room listening to these tunes, getting dressed...ready for a night out in NYC.
Driving down Rt.3....seeing the NY city skyline at night all lit up. It gave me chills. Still does.
I'd get on the path train, my legs bouncing with anticipation.
Deciding where to go...lower east side...mid town..etc.
I'd settle on a club and walk.I'd get to the club, seeing people waiting online.
I hear the muffled bass through the walls...my heart races.
The guest list is checked and I walk in..surveying the scene.Watching the crowd move in syncopation with the music, the lights flashing, the bass pounding you in the chest.Tendrils of smoke eminate from my nose and mouth as I take a deep pull on a cigarette.
I hit the floor.Around me. White,Black,Hispanic.
Gay,Straight and everything in between. We're
all one. The music unites us. Smiles are exchanged
as is hugs. We might not really know each other
but familiar faces are seen. We're all members of
a greater family. A House nation.
I really do pine for those days. I had so much fun.
I enjoyed the dancing,the music,the camaraderie.
It's like another life time ago.
Tomorrow I'm going to be 40 yrs old....
good g0d.
