a lost soul wanders about
wondering where it will wind up
confusion has become a good friend to this soul
stress has been there too
life beckons decisions
life demands choices
and life wants them soon
this poor soul doesnt want to choose
it just wants to live
but life screams
it reprimands
it warns this scared soul
that by not doing anything, it has already made a choice
so the soul sits back and cries
it doesnt want to make the wrong decision
but there is no way of knowing til it is too late
"I love you."
"be with me, i know where young but think about our love"
and so this poor soul decides to choose love
and to be with its eternal companion
"you have your whole life ahead of you!"
"Have fun
enjoy your self you have plenty of time to grow up!"
and so this poor soul thinks about it
and decides she doesn't want to rush into life
she wants to experience the world
but then
"but i love you
don't you love me?"
and this poor soul realizes she can't have both.
one or the other
life returns and asks this soul if she has made her mind?
and this poor soul cries and runs away trying to buy more time
confusion has now become her daily companion
how is it that she is supposed to choose between the one she loves and the rest of her life?
aren't the two things supposed to be one and the same?
shouldnt the one she love
also BE the rest of her life?
then there wouldnt be a choice
just a path
but she somehow has to choose
tears are now a daily occurrence
her lover says
"follow your heart"
the world says
"follow your heart"
she is so confused
she doesnt know what her heart wants!
her heart wants to love
and it wants to live
life looks over at time
which tells life that it is hers
and so life returns
and shouts at this poor soul
and demands an answer
if she doesnt choose
a choice will be made for her
and this is the part where i come in and tell you to follow your heart
and that your heart is the one that talks to you first
before the brain comes in and says "but" and "what if"
this is the part where i repeat to you
"i love you"
and "you love me"
"we have our whole lives ahead of us to be together"
my dearest poor soul
life is calling your name
and it wants a decision
if there is one thing i could say to you
it would only be three words
that if even the world were asked
it would have to agree
three words
