What are you waiting for?

California- $1.27 billion
Oklahoma- $20 million
Colorado- $2.5 million
Nevada- $600,000
New Mexico- $200,000

Grand total: $1.48 billion dollars THIS WEEK ALONE is the amount (and a low count) of money lost to the federal and state governments in eradicated marijuana in the United States.

Remembering all those episodes of Cops and other police shows, I imagine the plants will be burned and destroyed. Instead of feeding children, educating those same children, and giving those children adequate healthcare, these plants are burned.

Our politicians talk a lot about protecting children. We need to protect them from the evils of drug use; protect them from the neighborhood pedophile; protect them from damaging their brains by using helmets; protect them from major bodily injury in a car by requiring them to sit in car seats or wear their seat belts. Yet when we can’t provide these protections we continue digging the whole that is creating these problems to begin with.

We don’t talk about how other countries solve their issues, because by god, we are the all mighty US, and we know better than anyone. If we were wise enough to learn from other people, we might have the progressive country a lot of us have fooled ourselves into thinking we have here.

How can we be called progressive when we ignore the fact that we have an enormous industry we are quashing in the name of some random morality? After all, our Constitution doesn’t say anything about any plants, and I can honestly say my morality is heavily based in the Constitution of the United States. Even the puritanical society that existed when this country was founded was radical enough to know it is not the government’s business to tell anyone what they can grow on their own land.

If the founding fathers of this great nation wrote the Declaration of Independence on paper made of hemp, and even grew hemp and marijuana themselves, do you think they would be happy to see what a waste of resources our government is forcing upon its citizens?

We get taxed for driving cars, we pay fees for everything, and this on top of the double and triple taxes we pay on our income. Anyone who wants to know how we can cut taxes, pay for healthcare reform, fund education, and increase our judicial resources just ask yourselves this one question. Where did the $1.48 billion dollars go that was taken from all over the country this week by our government?
