Shrimp and Crab Gravy
This quick and simple dish really spotlights the briny deliciousness of the shellfish. It's just terrific served over grits.

Servings: 4 to 6
Ingredients:
* 2 pounds shrimp
* 1/2 pound bacon
* 2 medium onions, chopped
* 2 tablespoons butter, divided
* Salt and pepper, as needed
* Flour, as needed
* 1 pound cooked crabmeat (or a mix of white meat and claws)
* Cooked rice or grits, for serving
Directions:
Wash, head (if using heads-on shrimp), peel and devein the shrimp. Cut the bacon into 1-inch slices. Cook the bacon in a large skillet until brown. Drain the grease. Set the bacon aside.
Add the onions and a pat of butter. Brown the onions. Set aside with the bacon.
Sprinkle the shrimp with salt and pepper. Roll in flour. In the skillet, lightly brown the shrimp in a pat of butter. Add the onions and bacon. Stir.
Add enough water to cover the mixture. Add the cooked crabmeat. Cover and cook slowly on low heat for 10 minutes. Serve over rice or grits.
