As a species: humans are capable of most anything and history shows this is true.
Change comes slow or it's turbulent.
Humanity thinks it has evolved from the caveman days.
Or even think we've have changed since the 70's.
We're due for change and it's not going to be easy, folks.
The next 4 years will be interesting to say the least.
Doesn't matter anyhow because it's been predicted that the world as we know it will cease to exist after December 21st, 2012.
