... alright, first let's say you built a giant robot about the height of a 2 story house- and you gave it a scale machine gun, and scale heat axe
painted it green- made it look kinda like a japanese demon
now
hack off its legs- put propolsion points, cannons, articulated beam weapons, missle arrays and personal shield systems on it
and put another 4 tons of armor on it.
You would then have the Neue Ziel.

There is no distance at which it is not at a distinct advantage armament and armor-wise while still retaining high maneuverability.
