[Lame strategy rant- please disregard and go do something interesting, I'm just thinking outloud here, and unless you follow theoretical weapon design, robotic design, strategy games, or Gundam, you're going to be BORED

Alright, some of you caught the neue ziel rant
and I've been spending my idle hours really trying to process a paper to that rock.

In the series it appeared in
they fought rock versus rock.
Build big, build guns, build big.

Now, my normal method most any strategy game is:
single player Squads: Superior formations 2-3 def-off.
multiplay Individual offense: Superior positioning and superior distance.
multi-play Squad defense: robotic point defense with light support.

In other words, when I go offense, I tend to loan wolf with maverick techniques in disregarded or neglected points.
IE
I fight smarter than I fight well.
It's not cover and return fire- its cover and dissapear.
Snuggle up to a corner with some shrubs, and make a few pickoffs.
It helps if you can read your opponents. Leave them a frag if you know they'll pursue. Duck a corner and draw a knife you think they'll run past.

Crash an attack chopper parachute in. Ride a catapault and drop it on their head- use the duct work. Start knifing people in the route they used to infiltrate 3 steps behind.
I was one of the first 10 people to get knife gold badge in 2141.

I'm good. But my tactics are WEIRD compared to most other players. I do well with a partner- but ... like the kinda partner that lives with me and has played chess against me face to face.
That's why I tend to find myself in D positiosn in organized games.
My O is too wildcard and too hard to predict and build a tactic around since I try to keep it adaptive per the situation. This style is matched in my MTG decks. Rather than building a deck that does one thing well- I do a deck that can answer almost any problem given the right draw, searching, or alternatives. Rather than having an invincible sequence, I have a deck full of trumps. I'm very single minded in my adaptivity.
If that makes sense.

So
Knowing what I know about myself, some of the things I've built.
I think I'd wind up building a...
I have no idea.

The Neue Ziel is perfect.

In armored Core- a distant cousin game franchise of gundam, I always find myself building projectile weapon loaded high speed high mobility units.
If you can dodge a bazooka round- who needs armor?

That and its just more fuckin fun to play a unit that dances around the battlefield instead of trudges like a tractor in mud.

I build projectile because energy weapons often have a higher output and volume- but tax your generator- and I need that to run away, hold optimum distance and strafe.
This was also mimicked in my missile boat in EVE. Cloak- salvo- run- cloak.

So let's say I obey my pattern.
I build light, fast, with a high singular damage output (large caliber with low volume) with cqc options if I have to.

I'm fucked.

The Neue Ziel can dodge energy beams or outright deflect them.
The same goes for projectiles.
It's missile array and articulated lazers can take out any mines or incoming salvos or for that matter- anyone attempting to close a gap.

The solution
and its not a good one
is close quarters standard weaponry melee.

Axe-in-skull beats rock.

Best 1-1 scenario is approach from behind and bash its head. The mass on this thing is huge, but so is the thruster output. I imagine a 180 turn is NOT a big deal for it either and that means you suddenly have 8 arms with basically lightsabers all pointed at your head.
You have
one
good shot at this thing.
Cockpit
or main camera, and that's not AS good an option.

*scratches his head*
Rik Dom S (high mobility melee unit) outfitted with every electronic countermeasure you can put on it to bypass detection, reflective black coating to reduce visibility, hope it can maneuver fast enough to get one good thrust at the cockpit with a heat-sword.
Bam-
gooified pilot, 90% intact weapon of gigantor destruction to steal.
You'd either have to use minimal propolsion to avoid detection, catapault, or lay in wait.

The problem is you're disobeying my patterns.
I never build a paper to a rock.
I throw a scissor, and still win, and really weird people out when I do.

I'm gonna keep thinking on this one.
I'm attempting to beat the Iwinbutton (perfect weapon) without the anti Iwinbutton (perfect scenario), because when do you honestly have the resources and the prior knowledge and the TIME to build a counter-strike?
I just don't find that to be realistic militarism.

This was actually a strong point of Eve. Titan versus Titan used to work- then someone took it out with the equivalent of fleas, versus titan.

And yes,
this is actually this month's meditation exercise.

Maybe next time I'll try answering the question with chance.
Roll the dice, come up with a standard compliment of units, and answer the problem thusly.
3 guys walk into a bar- and they accidentally bump into a bearsharkcyborgspider.
What do the 3 guys do to kill it before it eats them?

It's a tough question.
