What are you waiting for?

I was online last night and chatting with a friend about, well, pretty much anything. I mentioned how I was living down south for a bit and tried to describe the area the best I could. Lot's of hardworking, salt of the earth types. And conversely some people who fit the Larry the Cable guy stereotypes. I mentioned that some (not all) of the homes were a bit on the rundown side and old. And the fact that alot of them had a newer RV or camper next to them. The response? ? If you live in the middle of nowhere, why do you need an RV? Aren't you already essentially camping? --------- Yesterday I went to the local dollar store. It's run and I assumed owned by some people of south asian extraction. Read either Pakistani or Indian. Anyways, I'm looking to get some lightbulbs and some other assorted crap. The proprietors felt the need to follow me around the store the whole damn time. I mean, the whole time. It got to the point where I stopped, opened up my wallet and took out some cash and said, Look I have money I'm not going to steal. The guy turned on his heels and left. Another thing (well 2 actually). It was FREEZING in the store. Hey,Jignesh, there's a new little thing on the wall...it's called a THERMOSTAT..use it. Secondly, can you hire anymore spanish speaking people who cannot comprehend English? I mean,it really adds to the Dollar store experience. /rant mode over. -------------------- Bits/Bytes/and acting tough online. Earlier yesterday I was in a chat room. Not here but on SoulSeek. Anyways, G0d forbid you say something that the majority of the "hip" crowd doesn't like and you face their wrath. Between being lambasted with "l33t speak" and Ebonics, I tried to use a cogent verbal counter attack...which was pretty moot. I mean, I can pretty much assure you that the the majority of the people in the room were 16 yr old, pimply faced white kids who are acting tough online cause : 1. the internet provides such great anonymity 2. distance is our friend 3. they have the latest 50 cent cd. 4. they've mastered the time honored art of the wolf pack mentality. So I snagged the files I wanted and left. No my ego wasn't bruised or even ruffled. I just sighed and moved along. You'll see these same type of kids hanging out at the local mall near me. They all seem to drive mid to late 80's/90's Honda Civic's or Accords with tint's,booming stereos, farty mufflers, big ass wings on the trunk of the car and the multitude of TYPE R stickers on the fenders. When they get out they're usually, white guys with baggy pants (sean john, fubu), T shirts that come down to their knees and hats tilted to the side. They do this gangster lean walk and talk alot of shit *loudly* to gain attention to themselves. Of course when they do come in contact with "inner city people" at the mall, they say nothing and quietly shuffle by and then it's back to business as usual. You have to laugh (or cry). Yes way back when I used to listen to some HipHop and did some graffiti. I never bought into the whole you have to dress to what you listen to thing. But times changed and so did I. We'll see what happens with these young men. Cripes, I am getting getting old...I'm ranting about the younger generations. ;) And thanks MTV for corrupting and polluting the minds of our kids. --------------- Well I'm pretty much tapped out typing wise. Until the next posting...Nanu Nanu.
