I wait for you
for the place we are to
cross paths…
if I were to write for you poem
write to you from beneath the pomp
and the masks so tenderly so carefully placed
what would the words choose to say
would the words spill of the sad
that taints my once white soul
in shades of melancholy haze
they bleed upon the page of sleepless nights
or comfortless dreams where running from
and searching for home is the norm
twisting my head in the waking hours
if I wrote to you …for you a poem
would I tell you of those ghosts that came before
not just of the few times I let my heart fly free
but of fathers that died too young
how I fear giving again
because I fear the leaving more
if I wrote for you from my heart
my search through dark and light
of my path, to be the man
of choice and kindness
and how I tire how I grow so damn weary
of stepping stone emotions
I am more then the kindness in so many hearts
I am a man damnit I am a man
if I wrote to you a poem
would I give you everything
or would I keep some of it to myself
knowing the questions and doubts would come
I wait
as I have for so long
I wait knowing that waiting
is part of the process
in finding not only you
but myself as well
I wait for you no answers in place
I pray you will wait
and that you will wait for your poem
for words that are yours alone
if I were to write you a poem
for now I think I would just say
hello
