the internet from work, but I get a bit tired of all the complaints aiming at begrudging those that are able to access the internet from work. Here was my response to one person that placed such a complaint bulletin:
"Just got to realize that the circumstances for those accessing from work might be very different because they have different kind of jobs that aren't your ordinary job. Myself included.
I answer 60-100 crisis calls during my shift each shift I work. Some calls are 5 mins; others are close to 45 minutes or an hour; occasionally, you'll get the one that lasts much longer than that. Would you be able to do the same and remain cool?
In between calls we are allowed to surf the net to remain alert and awake.
Just saying....
Take into consideration that there are jobs of all sorts that help make our world go around. Just because your job doesn't allow you the luxury to surf every now and then, doesn't mean that the rest of the world isn't continually turning.
If I am on the net more than usual in a night while working, consider it good that some loved one isn't getting beaten at that time who needs a crisis person to respond to their call. After all, that call to people like me could be coming from someone you know and/or love one day - Lord forbid!"
What do you really think???
I guess I shouldn't let it bother me, but when they are essentially saying and inferring generally that all people who access the site from work are lazy, I do take offense and put up my own defense mechanisms. Wouldn't you???
