Friends
By: April Terry
Friends,
Just who are they?
What is there purpose?
How much do we really need them?
When u think of the word friend,
Who is it that comes to mind?
Have you talked to then lately?
Do they know that you care?
Are they someone you can tell anything too?
How well do you really know then?
Will they be there if you need them?
Will you return the favor?
Is this friendship a two-way street?
Or is it one-sided?
If I was asked these questions,
I would respond as followed:
Friends are those who love you,
Even at your darkest moment!
The purpose of friends is to support you,
And help you to become your best.
A good friend is irreplaceable.
When I think of the word friend,
You come to mind.
And even if we haven’t talked today in some form,
My heart was with yours.
And of course you know I care,
And if you didn’t well you know now.
If I can’t tell you anything,
Well then you’re not my friend,
Because that means I feel,
That I can’t trust you.
And without trust,
There is no friendship.
I know you as well as you allow me to,
I will never pry into your space,
But I will always be here to listen in a time of need.
My only wish,
Is that you feel as I do.
So is our friendship a two-way street,
Or is it one-sided?
