El is drifting in and out of consciousness but it not really coherent. They want to do a second surgery to clean up the amputation a bit and when there is space at the VA hospital he will be transferred there. Two friends and I went to clean up his apt today and make room for volunteers to help move his tons of books and packrat treasures to a storage. It was such a disgusting task that I could barely find something tonight after i got home that I could stand to look at and eat. No one know exactly how many days he was stuck in his bed, all the stuff we had to throw out that were ruining by urine, chinks of his flesh that had fallen off, and doing all this at a snail's pace to not get stuck by his sharps in the pile of stuff from his used insulin needles. We hauled out a lot a trash and a good number of bags of laundry that got divvied up to volunteers to do. We dismantled his bad and disposed of the mattress. People can at least get around now. So I would say the 5 hours were productive.
