Austin weather isn't too bad yet, although we are starting to get some of the icy conditions. Fortunately, it isn't getting too bad yet too because it is a Holiday for many and many businesses had already planned to be closed for the holiday so many people have been staying home this morning.
All the MLK festivities are being rescheduled for another day, albeit I am sure that no one is disappointed in that no one wants to be festive in this kind of cold, wet weather.
I ended up staying extra at work to cover for folks that were slowed down by the weather circumstances, but I am scheduled to go in this afternoon (pre arranged four weeks ago). IF I don't have to go back in, I certainly wouldn't be complaining.
I drove up the big hill on 2222 (that many folks feel is scary enough in good weather) and my windshield iced over. It was similar to the icing that an airplane can get if trying to take off in bad weather because it was a similar grade of steepness as I was going up this hill. There was no where to pull over safely while going up this hill so I carefully kept moving forward.
When I finally got up to the top of the hill, it was icy, especially around the 3M area. If I can help it, I'd rather not tempt it and have my windshield ice over on the way down this huge hill.
Sooooo,
tell me northerners,
when you don't happen to have any de-icer to put on your windshields, what is another household item that you can use instead???? I am pretty certain that, if the stores did have any de-icer on hand around me, they most certainly don't have any on hand now. I had some RAIN-X in my old blazer, but I haven't needed it since I got the Red Barron blazer in '04.
WD-40???
dish soap???
Just what would you suggest out of some possible household items that I might have in my home???? Just in case that they insist that I return this afternoon to work some more today.....
