Act 1 Scene II.. The rules
A six foot tall muscular african american woman (Ms.April) leads Zeda through the campus tour...
Ms.April: Wake up is at 7am, You are to get dressed, Make your bed and be ready for head count by 7:15. 7:30 to 8 is Breakfast. You are a level Zero. That means you are not allowed to speak to or sit with the other residents. This is the time you are to observe the other residents and see exactly who you should associate with.
Ms.April slides a white card through a slot next to the door and pushes the doors open
Mrs.April: School is on campus, these are your classrooms. The kids are separated, just like in normal school, you will take all your classes with kids in your grade. This room is english, this is science, and this one is math.

Mrs.April: (Announces loudly)Ladies on the Hall!!!!
There are a lot of good kids here, and a lot of not so good kids here. who you associate with will determine whether you are here for a year or two years
Zeda: I will be out in 6 months
Mrs.April: No you wont.
Team group is every evening at 6pm. Except Wednesdays when you will attend psychoED
Zeda: I am not psycho
Mrs April: those not attending PsychoEd will be in 12 step. Saturday mornings you will have gender group, and Friday is the token store. (Pointing to a small room full of candy T shirts and stuffed animals
Zeda: Whats a token
Mrs April: Tokens are points earned for good behavior. They can also be taken away for not so good. For any disruptive behavior you will be placed in timeout for fifteen minutes. Two time outs in one day results in a level drop. We have three levels here. 1, 2, and 3.
Zeda: but you said i was a level zero
Mrs.April: Correct, you have no level because you are being observed as well as observing. In seventy two hours you will be placed on level one. From there you can apply to move up to the other levels. The higher the level the more the privileges.
Mrs.April: you are allowed ten items of clothing, 5 shirts 5 jeans, no skirts halters or makeup of any kind. You are allowed 2 pairs of shoes and sleeping attire. YOU MAY NOT SLEEP NAKED understand.
Zeda: yes mam... I don’t really have that many clothes anyw….
Mrs: April: Now i need you to step into the bathroom and remove your clothing to be searched
Zeda: ( eyebrows raised) What?
