Back in August Slutty J and I were on our way to lunch, when we saw an lady being attacked by 2 small terriers. We of course pulled over to assist her and called for the paramedics to arrive, whilst waiting I tended to her wound on her leg. She was a very sweet elderly lady named Meiling. We waited until they assured me that they would take her either to the hospital or get her home. She thanked us profusely and asked for our contact info, so I gladly gave her my card. I was thinking about her a couple of weeks ago, today when I arrived home there was a lovely Christmas card, note and a Target gift card..from Meiling ♥ I held back tears, how sweet of her...May everyone have at least one experience as wonderful as I did upon returning home from work today. Now, I will be baking some bread to take to her this weekend :) Merry Christmas all.

Shannon Adelman Browning From Amanda Goldstein, To my everyday elves.....the phone conversation I had with the parents of our needy family today was heartbreaking. Apparently there are 3 kids, not 2. Two girls, one nine, one seven, and a four year old little boy. The parents were utterly speechless when told that they had been chosen as a "special Santa project" family this year. When asked what to get the kids, the mom's only response was, "My children need clothes". Soooooo.....needless to say I am more amp'd to help than ever. I'm thinking since time is of the essence what might be easier is for everyone, who is willing, to donate to a Paypal account I have set up for this fund. That way I can go shopping with the amount received and get everything at once. If you don't feel comfortable with sending money via Paypal I can always give out more information and you can shop and drop off at my house. All my student from the family has told her mom that she wants for Christmas is to get to see Santa Claus....I have arranged with the bilingual teacher and a man that plays the part of Santa for his congregation every year to deliver the presents with me and pay a very special visit to the family. The money you donate to this fund will go towards clothing, I have all their sizes, toys, I have a list of all their likes, and food. Their mom told me that anything that they got would be appreciated as some nights the three kids share a small pot of chicken soup for dinner as there is nothing else available. (We can not bring them prepared food as that is legally a health code violation and we are not aware of all allergies so I appreciate that idea but we will have to stick to purchasing food instead) I think that if we all put in a little something we can make this family's December so much better. I completely understand if you do not want to donate and would rather purchase things yourself. Please just email me individually and I will give you the list of sizes and gift ideas. They are up to $500 as of a short while ago...Just $5 or $10 can make a huge difference to a family of 5..in North Texas.
I live in a duplex, the front unit is for lease currently and this afternoon an elderly man with his two bischons showed up to view the home. I was outside in the patio, decided to offer him some water while he waits for the landlord to arrive. We start chatting, turns out he is a WWII German Army veteran whom fought in the Ukraine. It was was weird moment realizing this is a very cool elderly man with a life well lived, even if he contributed to the death of many...and possibly my children's great grandfather who never returned from the war against Germany. I had a wonderful conversation a lovely man Gunther is, he would make a nice neighbor...I am sure my children and myself could learn a few things. I don't know that he is/was a Nazi, but the conversation didn't pause when I let him know about the Ukraine Jew family history. In closing, I think that given the opportunity we all really could get along and thrive by diversity and understanding and or acceptance.
