Beautiful Daughter, from the day you were born, you have struggled to make it in this world, and your tears have always touched my heart. I held you to my breast, prayed you'd latch on, watched you struggle to find the love that would sustain you.... and your tears again touched my heart. We managed to get through the eating difficulties, you and I, and it was time to learn to walk on your own.... and you'd crawl and reach up to me.... and your tears touched my heart! Elementary school came rolling up on us fast.... you were bright and smart and knew so much.... but that big yellow bus was taking you away from all you knew.... and your tears touched my heart! You were only six when your life was to change forever. I sank within myself as your father left us.... and your tears touched my heart as you begged him to stay. It took us some time, but we found ourselves.... I taught you to laugh again, to smile again, to hope again.... and your tears touched my heart as you graduated with honors. Your tears touched my heart as I watched you struggle your way into this world... Your tears touched my heart as I watched you find your own way.... Your tears touched my heart as you felt your world crumble beside you.... and your tears touched my heart as you claimed this world as your own. Before you, my beautiful daughter, I knew tears only as an expression of pain and loss.... through you, I've learned tears speak the language of every emotion... happiness, sadness, pain, surprise, disappointment, contentment.... and thanks to God's mercy and grace, I was blessed to be part of your world, to watch you change from helpless to unbeatable.... and as you go forth now without me right by your side.... you can always come to me, talk to me, share everything with me... as your tears will ALWAYS touch my heart!
