This has been a subject I cam across a few weeks ago from a situation one of my friends came across. It happened that he used to be sort of perverse towards women, so much that it had gave him a bad reputation for many years, and it still continues to haunt him. This reputation haunted him one night when he was out with a friend of his at a restaurant. The waitresses heard of a story about something that he supposedly grabbed a former waitresses butt, and she complained about it to the management and demanded he gets banned from the restaurant. However, the management couldn’t do anything about the situation due to lack of evidence, and as a result the waitress quit. This supposedly happened, even though no one else witnessed it, but the rest of the waitress staff believed the story and therefore try to avoid my friend as though he is the plague. It got even worse when his friend that accompanied him complained about the poor service the restaurant gave them, instead of defending my friend about being accussed of something false. As he told me about this, I knew he hasn’t done the kind of touchy feely he used to do with women for many years. However, it is something that has haunted him for quite some time now, and may even haunt him for even more years that he would want. Then, after thinking about his situation, I began to think about other people that have bad reputations that haunt them as well. I know some women that used to sleep around with many people, and after trying numerous times to settle down and be with one person, their previous life happens to follow them with and when her current boyfriend finds out, he break up with her. The same goes with guys that used to sleep around as well. Also, with former criminals trying to clean up their act and live a normal life, their previous antics tend to always get into the way of them getting ahead in life. I mean, people do happen to change their way of life, way of being and so on. However, there is that old saying, you reap what you sow, being that sometimes some of the things you do tend to fall back on you, whether you know it or not, good or bad. If it is bad, then society, circle of friends and influence always seem to hold it out against you, even if you repent your mistakes and never do them again it always seems to come back and haunt you one way or the other. I do feel bad for my friend that he has to deal with his past habits, and even still saying he doesn’t do it anymore, there’s always someone that seems to contradicte it and keep the past coming up behind him. Sometimes if that tends to happen, the best thing to do is leave the current area you are at and live somewhere else to start fresh. However, that sometimes could backfire as well.
