Just a quick one to wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year :)

hmmmm changes

Been away for a week and see that either there has been a change or there is a bug. What is with seeing what your friends are doing? I don't really care to see what they are doing. I know there is probably an option somewhere to turn that off and I will do it when i find it LOL. It might make some happy seeing what their friends are doing, but I'd sooner stay in the dark and leave that up to them.

well it was tough

It was a tough game for England, but they are through to the world cup rugby union final! I lost interest in the game a few years ago and its only this world cup that has got me interested again, but I doubt if I'll follow any team that much once its all over. Now for something that has happend to me on the site, and probably others. I was propositioned by a young lady to her web cam. Yeah I knew there was a catch when she asked, just visit this link and register. Now I have nothing against people charging to see them on web cam but $40 a month is a bit rich for me. I can think of better things to spend the money on. One thing that was strange is that she wanted my yahoo messenger screen name. Well I think I have found out, if you don't register, she will pester you and ask if you have. Well I'll keep telling her that I can't and not interested and see how long she keeps up. I presume they are under pressure to get so many eyes looking at the web site and to make money, otherwise they would leave you alone once you say no.

holidays

Yep I'll be visiting the US again near the end of october, and the way the dollar is at the moment for me ... well lets just say I'll be getting some bargains LOL. Ok so it will be the third visit this year to the same state, I like Oregon, just wish it wasn't so damn far LOL. Some may say that I should visit other parts of the US and see what it is like, but I like visiting friends as they know their area better than I could ever find out about. This year I thought I got it right concerning my holiday entitlement ... erm nope LOL. I forgot that we have to keep 1 day for xmas day. Last year was worse as I had to take a week off earlier in the year due to moving. I had to work my rest days so I could get 7 days more holiday, at least this year I only have to work 1 day :D Still at least I will be able to enjoy halloween like I did last year, seeing what people have done to their homes to celebrate halloween :D

Fun with flickr

Well as Yahoo is going to sut down their photo service, they moved all mine to flickr. Now I had a quick look around at first and thought hmmm yeah there are some good pics here, well they put mine to shame LOL. Then I had to do it, search for naughty stuff. Oh yes its there! Well I found one collection where the owner has ripped pics from different sites. Now the groups area can provide some surprising results :D Just try it and see what you can come up with.

Flickr

Yeah so I finally got around to setting up a flickr account, well it was easy because yahoo decided to use the same log in details for both sites. They also move photos between both sites, which is handy LOL. Now the problem I have found is that it doesn't have a batch delete function. There are tools to do other stuff, but i was originally looking for a mass downloader. Well it worked after I installed the net 2.0 framework. Great little downloader, but still no option to delete if you wish, once its downloaded. Now i have around 400 pics that I have downloaded but I don't need on my flickr account. They are not illegal, but I just don't think they are what I want in my account. So now I am going to either delete by hand, which is a boring job or come up with a script to do it if the api allows it.

a health update

Well after my holiday visiting Dee, I decided to go to the docs because my legs were causing a lot of problems. I had an idea what it could be because I was getting certain symptoms but not all at once. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Not such a great shock. Then last week my eyes started to play up. At first I couldn't read anything, so a visit to the opticians found that I needed glasses. A pic is in my album if anyone is interested :) Everyone who has seen me in glasses have said they suit me, but i still feel like they are temporary, though i know they are for life. I supose i could go for contacts but to be honest I am happy with glasses. What are the benefits though, apart from not wearing glasses?

update

I suppose i better update as to what is happening with me. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Not a great shock as thats what i suspected before i visited the doctor. I learnt a lesson though, not to leave a visit to the docs for too long. I really buggered up my legs and I feel they are just getting back to normal. I have to admit that the support you recieve is excellent, well what i have recieved so far. Of course i have had the do's and don'ts on what i can eat and i was already considering changing what i eat before i visited the doctor. Another thing that has happened is that my eye sight decided to go bad. So now I have to wear glasses LOL. The optician said it was just due to age and it stopped me doing a lot of things on the pc. I recommend that if you feel your eyesight is poor then go and get them checked, magnifier isn't a replacement, trust me! One bit of advice i would say is, if you feel you are suffering from at least one of the symptoms of diabetes, then get it checked out!

Back to the US :)

Yep I'm coming back at the end of june, and damn does it cost a fortune. Still I knew this when i booked the flight so I can't complain. I started watching life on mars (series 1) yesterday and it suddenly hit me why its so popular. Its not pc! As the series is based around the 70's, then some of the talk is based around that time. I remember the sweeney, it was a cop show that I was allowed to stay up and watch once a week. As to why i loved it so much I couldn't tell you. My brother used to be a fan of starsky and hutch, and you couldn't watch anything else when it was on. It was a sacrifice worth keeping him happy LOL. Of course he was also a fan of the 6 milion dollar man. I remember the day it was shown because we used to go to a boxing club, and he decided the show was more important. Well we both didn't really enjoy going to the club, but i carried on. As my brother was watching the show, I was at the club and then put into a fight against the county champion! What the hell was they thinking? I couldn't punch my way out of a paper bag and they put me against him. Well it taught me a lesson in defence, and i presume they saw more in me than I did in myself. Still the next week I decided to follow my brother and watch the show LOL. We both became big fans, obviously couldn't get all the toys that came with the show, but we did get the doll. As far as I remember it had a bionic eye, stickers that showed the wires inside the arm and i am sure it had an engine or generator so that it looked like he was lifting something heavy. And we think toys based on tv series and films is a recent thing. Still he didn't go through what my action man went through LOL.

snow riding: tip!

If its bad snow, don't bother! I thought I'd would be able to make it home because i have been able to get away with it before. Well it was a little tricky and slippery in places, especially when i had to turn into the gas station. Still the bike started up ok, and i was surprised because of the trouble i have been having. Well i got most of the way home and decided to pull over to clean the visor. Stupid me decided to switch the engine off, bad move. I had to try and push start the bike and then gingerly ride up the road once i did get it started. Well i had to brake and i wasn't going that fast, so i could turn into the side road. Well I felt that the bike wasn't slowing fast enough and squeezed the front brake a little too hard. That was it front wheel tucked and i ended up sliding up the road due to the slush. Thansk to the motorist who was following, he helped me get the bike up and take it over to the side of the road. Then i had to push the bike up the hill and get it into the front garden. Damn am I knackered after that. So what is the damage? one mirror, one rear brake lever and the handle bar weight looks bent and i think that is pinching the throttle grip. I can do the work myself if it comes off easy enough. I also have to get new bolts for the numberplate, that was still lying in the road where i dropped LOL. So next time its snowing hard, the bike stays where it is and I'll wait until the conditions are better.
