What are you waiting for?

While growing up on a farm, my siblings and I became accustomed to "barn talk". It was that way on most farms, unless you were Amish or Mennonite. However, like anywhere else, if we repeated those words in school, there was a problem.

To this day, I haven't figured out what the difference between bad words and their replacements that are not considered as offensive. I could say, "that doesn't mean shit to me," or I could use the words "crap" or "dung", or "defication", and it all means the same thing. Someone once told me, "it's classier to say defication." So, does that mean that the part that is offensive is because that's the way a poor person with less education would say it? That doesn't explain a thing to me.

I've never heard a rich, or educated person say, "You're urinating me off!" Have you? Or how about, "I don't give out nonmarital sexual intercourse for pleasure about that."??

It's all just words to me. My old friend that grew up in Jamaica stated that you could say any of the offensive words over Jamiacan radio, and not be fined by the FCC, because it's just words.

So, instead of calling someone a "cunt", I could call them a "vagina", and it should be less offensive because it's classier, right?? I think not. If I'm going to call someone a part of the body in order to offend them, I would call them an appendix, because as opposed to a vagina our appendix no longer has a valuable function in our body. It would be a great insult for a lazy person or a user.

At my workplace, two female co-workers jokingly call each other a witch. While, a hundred years or more ago, it was more offensive to be called a witch than a bitch.

Also, I can tell you for certain that I am an asshole. I remove waste both at home and work on a regular basis, and I have been known to fertilize a few plants on occasion.

Why is "damn", or even "God damn" offensive. So, I'll say it when I smash my thumb with a hammer. Do you think that God is going to send my hammer to hell just because I told him to? Again, "gosh darn" was used to replace those words, but is not considered offensive by most.

Calling someone a whore or slut may be something to get offended by, but still their just words. Someone called my friend a bastard, and his reply was, "and I turned out pretty good for someone who's father didn't stick around to raise me."

To me, people's intentions are far more offensive than any word that anyone can say. If your plan is to rob me of my hard earned money, or rape me, or kill me or any of my friends and family, that is offensive.

I'm not saying to go ahead and taunt people with words that they are offended by, but there would be far less bloodshed and heartache in the world if we all look at them as just words.
