Ok for those who want to know a avid PC user/gamers input on vista and xp here we go.
This is my opinion based off my experiances with both OSs on the same tower. My tower is setup like this for those who think my machine is to slow or weak.
CPU - AMD Athlon64x2 6000+ (3Ghz)
Ram - 4 gig ddr2 800 corsair ram
Vid - 1 Nvidia 8800GTS (640 mb dx 10 PCIE)
HD - 2 Serial Ata300 320 gig Segate Perpendicular hard drives
Asus mother Board.
Ok first my thoughts on new OSs in general. Microsoft has proven over the years one fact remains, never trust a new OS untill service pack 2. This one especially at least all other OSs were built of running OSs at the time, however Vista is made from scratch. Thus i recomend you do not touch it till SP2.
Vista issues...
1. it was designed with gamers in mind over everyone else. Thus the new DX10 and other things included into the OS.
However DX10 most people do not know is not needed to run the new Aero Glass inviorment that Vista has in it, infact it runs off DX9, and that brings about another issue with Vista. It has both Dx9 and Dx10 so the OS has issues sometimes switching between them. This is from a gamers view.
2. The Os while you can remove the always annoying ask your admin to install while your on the admin account. It is not something a novice can do.
3. Vista is very unstable it crashes lots of programs for no apparent reason, then tries to restart it. Which overall takes alot more time then just letting the program crash and then restart it on your own.
4. The os likes to have way more control then any other.
5. hooking up a cable or dsl connection to the os is a pain in the butt, it wants to use authentication all the time, and even when you turn it off it still has issues.
There are more but these are the keys so far. I am a bit tired but i will add a new blog later when i recall the rest. As a avid gamer i have given up on vista for now untill 2 things happen. 1. service pack 2 is released, 2. more games are made with dx10 the current number of games available are not worth the move, plus the parts are so expensive and slowly gona come down to make the big move to pcie if you have not done so yet.
