and (while logged out ;) ) had a look to see what the distribution of profiles at
http://www.cherrytap.com/user/n is in that range...
the number of profiles that look to have been abandoned before they were half-started- with no photos or with 1 or 2 points at most, etc. - is even higher than - well, than I for one would have expected...
and I was expecting a pretty high percentage of early-defunct, nonstarter, try-out profiles. (Add in the profiles
created by current users for no other purpose than to annoy other people and then stand stagnant- freshmeat duplicates- and one has even more.)
I am guessing that people who aren't greeted very soon, effectively, don't see their level raise fairly quickly (why? not points for the sake of blasted points. Read the rules, at

which lay out the differences between levels and what you need to get to them, if you haven't, yet.. What can you do as a fresher here? Not really all that much, comparatively.)

About this making the alerts fall of the bottom of the myalerts.php more quickly- yes. But at least they're on the denser, expected to be verra full, right side of the page, with the photos and stashes updateses, rightses?;
not the left side, which I at least concentrate on - usually, not always - a bit more keenly - for reasons divers 'n' sundr'.
