The Captain's Lady

The Captain's Lady by LateNiteFantasy© She stands on a hill and she prays to the moon, "Bring home my Captain and bring him home soon, No watery grave with the reef for his bed, Bring him home to his Lady instead." The Captain was a man with justice as his mission, And only the finality of death in his vision, He pined for no lass, his only lady was his mother, And he held her memory to his heart, loved her like no other, Til one day in a city far from coastal shore, He turned his eye and was lost e'er more, For the sweetness of his gaze fell upon a sultry pearl, When he bowed low before her, he gave her his world, The Captain, a man of morals, saw this young lass, Bemoaning her sorrows, and he could not just pass, He spoke simple words and slurred every one, But that is how the tale of the Captain's Lady was begun, The why's and the how's are all lost in the days That came shortly after, bewildered and amazed, The Captain asked the Lady to spend some small time, It was days or moments before he said "You are mine, "And I shall woo thee until the moon tumbles from the sky, And give you every treasure, though as yet I don't know why, Only allow me the taste from your lips, a kiss sweet as rain, And allow me the pleasure of taking away your dire pain." The Lady, from humble beginnings she had come, She had suitors, though her heart belonged only to one, And bemoaning the impossibility of a heart's desire so strongly denied, She had sat alone in the city, and head in hands had she cried For someone to hear her, yet she said not a word, No one knows how it is so, but the Captain, he heard, Days and nights spent adventuring along the sea, They fished, she as bait, and the capture was he, They traveled to secret coves, and discovered lost ships, He held her close, praised her scent, and dropped kisses on her lips, As all adventures must soon come to an end, She stole his heart away, then tried to give it back again, But the Captain, wise sailor, knew it was lost like a ship at sea, His heart, with ebon sail, lost in the eyes and breath of she, The Lady of the Captain, who now prays to the moon, "Bring him home safely, but please bring him home soon. "I care not where he goes when he travels out to the sea, But if the moon shines on him, then bring him back to me..."
