Be it ever so humble
There’s no place
Like home
Sadly
Some have no home
To call
Their own
Torn and tattered clothes
Holes in their shoes
No food
No warm place to sleep
Sadly many people
Live on
The streets
Parking lots
Or storefronts
Maybe inside
A cardboard box
Is where
They make
Their home
They carry
Everything they own
Which is not much
As they roam
The streets
Both day and night
Looking for food
And shelter
For the night
Donated clothes
From area Churches
Some that don’t fit right
But they are thankful
For these clothes
That help keep them
Warm at night
Searching through dumpsters
And trash cans
Looking for food to eat
A half eaten lunch or dinner
That people like you and I
Throw out
It’s a meal to them
Sometimes
The only one they eat
That day
Some push
Around shopping carts
Looking for cans to collect
So they can cash them in
And get some things
They need
True
Some are drunks and druggies
And alcoholics too
But some are just people
Who fell on hard times
People
Like me
And you
If they are lucky
They will find
A shelter
Serving a Thanksgiving meal
If the lines not full
And the foods
Already gone
Christmas comes and goes
For them
They’ll receive
Not one single gift
No Family
To gather around them
No peace and love shared
It’s just another day
Of the year
For them
So as you sit inside
You warm
And comfortable homes
Think about the Homeless
That have no place
To go
As you complain
About your job
Or the dinner
Your wife served
Remember
There are people out there
That would love to eat it
Even if it’s burned
When you
Complain about the cost
Of water utilities and food
Remember
There are people
That don’t even
Have a roof
A bath would be
A luxury to them
A bowl of cold cereal
A meal
So stop
And think
Before you complain
About the little
Things in life
There is always
Someone who is
Worse off than you
Don’t cry about things
You can’t afford to buy
Material things
Are not that important
In life
Be thankful you have
A place to call home
Food upon your table
A bed to rest your head
Always remember
Be it ever so humble
There’s
No place
Like
Home
