Samuel was once a mesnie, a law enforcer in the employ of King Frederick and Queen Katherine. Investigating the vanishing of the royal cupbearer Talmage, he happened upon a secret meeting in the hut of Lucas, the magician and necromancer. A blood magic ritual had recently taken place to create a group of monsters which came to be known as the Shaderen.
Recently wedded to the Princess, he had become one of the monsters, and now spends his days killing only to maintain his ability to pass for human, and to look for a way to destroy the creations of Aposrithu before shadow covers the world in blood.
