For a man without a past he wants to share, Etorak has his share of issues. Women being one. He had gone through a nasty divorce just before he took a quick siesta at a tavern he visited regularly. He didn't go there to drink. He went there to get info on his latest bounty. The officers let him take down their most wanted criminals since he was amazingly good at it. His latest target, a man he lost to a rival bounty hunter he knew as Kultran, led him on a chain of events that led to his supposed death...but the last thing he expected was to wake up in a frozen wasteland in a world that would call him a Traveler.

Samuel was once a mesnie, a law enforcer in the employ of King Frederick and Queen Katherine. Investigating the vanishing of the royal cupbearer Talmage, he happened upon a secret meeting in the hut of Lucas, the magician and necromancer. A blood magic ritual had recently taken place to create a group of monsters which came to be known as the Shaderen. Recently wedded to the Princess, he had become one of the monsters, and now spends his days killing only to maintain his ability to pass for human, and to look for a way to destroy the creations of Aposrithu before shadow covers the world in blood.

Tolmer Bandon is the kind of guy who is good at what he does, and he knows it. He brags about it. What he's good at is fighting with his fists and feet, and the occasional quarterstaff. As a child in an orphanage, he was often the butt of many practical jokes, including one time when some local bullies sent his mattress down the river. He spent a lot of time out of doors, and became a renowned fighter in the underground tournaments. One day after he had become a man, a stranger paid him for a good deed with an item that brought him to what seemed an early demise. He woke in a barn, in a world he would come to save, with the help of three others, the four of them known as the Travelers. He later developed super-human senses of smell and sight.

Farezzek is an orc, a race of beast-like humanoids whose toughness is nearly unmatched. Born with one eye, and no magic abilities at all, his past remains a mystery. Being a natural fighter with a keen intellect, he almost graduated at the top of his class from the Golden Halberd Military Academy, but when his best friend, the only one who could challenge him at his favorite physical battle game, went missing, he had to choose either graduation or tracking his friend down... Instead of being arrested for deserting the academy before his allowed time, he was given a job as a secret agent for Atlantia's elite crime fighting unit, Spec Ops.
