As some of you know, during the summer i run an asphalt sealcoating business and it pretty much goes from mid may to mid september. I want to speak to you currently long-term unemployed people whom have not found a job.
First, there is no job that is "beneath" you. You are not too good or too educated to do any job. I understand why you think you are as well, with all the hand-outs the governement gives with no incentive to get a job.
Second, the value of the american worker I believe has been overhyped due to several factors. 1. union contracts 2. raising of minimum wage 3. politicians who coddle americans just to get a vote
NO politician can give you a job, they can only take it away. As Obama has so demonstrated by the term "jobs saved or created" WHAT is a saved job? and what did the government do to save that job? although I am not the biggest Bush supporter in the world, unemployment was, on average, at 4.8%. Obama's 2 year average is at 9.7% unemployment. Those two numbers speak for themselves.
I've had 2 employees so far this year. The first, decided the day after he didnt show up for work and didnt call in, that he was not going to travel 7 miles for work for a half day of work. Word to the wise, if you pull this kind of crap, you will not keep a job EVER. NO employer will tolerate that, especially in a recession. You work, you get paid, its as simple as that and if you do not want to work, you will not get paid.
The second, decided to go get wasted and then not show up or call in for 3 hours. By the time he woke up, I gave him 20 minutes to get to work (it was a 15 min. drive) he took a full hour. A second word to the wise, learn to handle your liquor. I had an employee 3 years ago who drank nightly, and she still got up and into work on time everyday and worked her ass off. Handling your liquor CAN be done if you choose to drink often.
The third employee that I was going to hire today decided to just not show up or call in. A third word to the wise, that is an automatic non-hire. If we cant expect you to show up on your first day, how can we expect you to show up any day? Now not only did these people no longer have a job, but they cannot get a good reference when a better job comes along. all 3 shot themselves in the foot.
Now apparently we have several million illegal aliens that have jobs in this country, supposed jobs that americans dont want. I ask you, you are sitting on your ass, at home , barely living and barely getting by on unemployment. Are these jobs REALLY beneath you? I don't think so. You may need to dial back how you live. forget a phone, or a car, or cable or internet. At least until you can work your way back to having these things when u can afford them.
So get off your butts and get a low paying job or 2 low paying jobs. woprk at a fast food joint, work at a gas station, work in a field on a farm. NO JOB is beneath you and the sooner you realize that the sooner we all can get out of this recession.
