One of my really good friends is 17 and met a guy who is 24. Now the guy is well known around the community, but not in a good way. This guy had 2 rape charges against him, one girl was 16 the other 18, he does drugs, deals, and has 2 kids both with different women that he never pays child support for.
As soon as she told me who she was interested in I let her know all about him and told her it would be best to stay away from him. She didn't listen and had him meet her parents and her parents adore him even after knowing everything. Their reasoning is that you shouldn't judge some one by their past. Now she is telling me she is old enough to not need help and I am being pessimistic and I should be happy for her.
She has had a problem with pills and drinking before and she quit for a while, but since she has gotten with him she has started up again, and is even using me as an excuse to go out. Saying that she is going to meet me somewhere, and then tells me about "meeting up with me" the next day.
The main problem I have about all of this is her 19 month old daughter. If she is caught doing drugs and drinking etc. her baby (my godbaby) can be taken away from her and she loves that little girl more than anything... I just think she is too young to deal with being a parent.
So here is my question
Do I let her parents know she is up to now good ?
Watch and let things happen ? |
