I recently borrowed $25 from a friend to help me with gas money to get to the airport to come see her. (I had the money until there was a lot of miscommunication with the bank a couple days before I was to leave and couldn't refund my airline ticket) The agreement was that she would help me find a job and a place to stay so I could pay her back and I could move to Utah. Long story short she was more interested in herself and her needs.
I was staying with her parents after we had gone camping and she brought all my suitcases and things over from her house and I noticed my Ipod was missing and I asked her if she had seen it. She said she hadn't but would look for it. Earlier that week she had been trying to convince me to sell it to her fiancee because he really wanted one, and got upset when I told her I decided not to sell it.
I have asked about it a couple times since and got the same answer that she hadn't seen it and it had to have been in my bags because she packed everything herself. So, I called her this morning before leaving her parent's house and asked her if she has seen it since or knew anything about it, and I got the same answer. My gut feeling is that she took it.
So the question is ...
Should I chalk it up as a lesson learned and pay her back the money?
or
Not pay her back until my ipod is recovered? |
