The next day Otundie was in the cave where he created the first campfire with his fire sticks, the spark was breathed upon and it came alive in the twigs and logs he had gathered for this purpose.
It was like having his own tiny version of the sun right there in his cave, soon others would come to watch the fire which he contained by a circle of small rocks next to the cave wall.
As he and the overs stared into the flames their minds would relax and fall into meditations, some would even go into a trance under the spell of the flickering flames and imagine out of body experiences. Fire watching became a kind of cult religion if you could call it that.
You see, the flickering embers move with patterns that are in harmony with our brain waves when we reach the most relaxed state of mind in mediation, and so they draw us into them as if we were entering our very own soul.
The news spread and even more came to partake of the mind alternating experience. However Otundie, being lazy by nature, got tried of always going about to collect more firewood for the campfire and so he told everyone they must bring a gift for the fire spirit.
So people would bring wood and pile it up so he could feed the flame and keep it alive. But one girl did not comprehend and brought an apple as a gift and when she tossed it into the fire it rolled right between the fire and the wall and started to bake in the heat.
Shortly Otundie tasted the apple and loved its apple cider taste. The science of cooking was discovered and soon they would experiment with cooking other things. And over ages to follow people would learn from the science of cooking about medicenes and brews that can be used to heal illnesses, and all of that knowledge they would come to know because of the gift which Otundie believed came from the thundering clouds.
