*sorry if there are some typo errors in it. I have been in the business world for more than 2 years now. I can’t even believe I am a part of it. I am not even a graduate. As you know most of the call centers are not that strict when it comes to educational background, you just have to have experience. Working in the said industry is like going back to school. You will be in class for 2-3 weeks. You will be learning new stuff, have new classmates, a new teacher, will be graded and graduate. After which you will be distributed to your teams, then again you will meet new people. When you ask ordinary people what is a call center, they will mostly say ‘oh, those people who work at night’, yeah most of us work at night, and as a personal opinion, night differential helps a lot, especially in paying taxes. The good thing about working at night is that you get to avoid the hustle of the traffic world. But what I hate about it is that you don’t get to have a social life, unless of course you are very good when it comes to time management, which I am not. True, that there are a lot of establishments open in the morning, like malls and coffee shops, but the goodness of watching bands play while drinking with a bunch of friends is impossible during day time. Before I was corrupted in this industry, I was in a band. Of course when you are in a band, you have to have a commitment with your band mates and your music. And also your gigs will be at night. Then I started working in a call center which hindered me from doing so. No more life for me. If I want to go out, I would be too tired. If I am off, I would rather stay at home and relax than drink some booze. In the corporate world, you are suppose to wear business casual attire. But on our side of the corporate world, we manage to be total ‘pasaways’ and come to work wearing nothing but flip flops, jeans and shirts. I know that we need to be presentable at work, but our customers don’t see us, so what’s the point? And most of the people are sleeping during our work hours. As for me I am more on comfort, it’s hard for me to do the corporate look, I just can’t. My system won’t let me. Some say dress to impress, yeah that is only applicable when clients are around, what about everyday? Who am I going to impress? Dressing good makes you feel good about yourself, but sometimes dressing so fashionably makes you look like a constipated bitch. Some agents dressed as if they’re always going to a party, their make-up is oozing on their faces, I always want to ask them, what are you dressed up for? In every company there will always be assholes. But if you want to check out all types of assholes and bitches, get a ticket to the call center offices and have a tour. I may not have been that long in this world of business but I can tell you, politics is such a fad in this industry. If you are not a politician in your company you are not in. Trust me I have witness a bunch of politics in the office. These humans will never stop from being slaves of it. Yes they’re smart but also shallow. You have to use your connections to go on top. Sickening that is the right term, those people makes me want to puke. But you just have to ignore them and avoid getting eaten by the system, or you will be one of those suck-up people who kiss their boss’ ass. Being in this business is tiring sometimes, the food, the people and the job, its sickening! Sometimes I just wanna shoot myself while taking in calls. They also give you mandatory over time, and then they will let you sign something that has ‘I agree with this voluntary mandatory Overtime for an hour’ WHAT?!??!?! Since when did mandatory become voluntary?!? Arghhhhh!!! Enough about the bad things, I am a part of the industry anyways, like I have a choice. But what I like is that you get to meet new people, not just in the office, but also those people you will get to talk to everyday for 8hours. And also the fact that they have unlimited supply of caffeine! w00t! w00t! I can’t believe I am a part of this world. To be honest I am glad I am a part of it. I may feel sick sometimes but hey, nothing in this world is perfect for someone like me. I am beyond normal. But being in it is fun. Just don’t try to make enemies, avoid people who will pull you down, coz if you allow them, they will be the one who will be successful and not you. In this world, it’s a survival of the fittest. You have to have balls and be what you are. Don’t let people tell you what to do, unless of course it’s your boss hehe! ~diwata~

I am Diwata, 22 years old, single and loving it. People may ask me how come I am single, or a better question, why are you single? My answer is simple, because no one has found me interesting. If I answer, ‘because I choose to’, well, I would be lying to myself. So my answer is definite, ‘no one has found me interesting’. Then people may say that you are just trying to defend yourself, by saying ‘I love the single life’. It may be true, but one thing I can tell you, I have been single for quite sometime, and I never felt depressed, I feel lonely sometimes, yes, but not depressed. Happy? Probably yes, and probably not. Some women, who are single, find it hard, not to have a boyfriend. But I always say, you cannot find your happiness in other people. Positive thinking is one of the best things that you can hold on to, especially when you’re single. Focus on more important things, like your career, family and friends. I work in a call center, an environment where 90% speaks English, and most of the guys are handsome. When I first started working in the said industry, I thought that men in call centers are less shallow. But I guess men are the same. They will always look for those slim women. You may think that I am saying this because I am insecure of slim women. I am not, it’s just that, whenever I look at those couples, I always ask myself, why he choose that girl when she’s not even pretty, then I will think again, and say, maybe there something in her that other people don’t see, and then at that point, I begin to understand. But what if the girl is only slim, meaning not pretty at all, dumb, and full of crap? Then I would say that the guy doesn’t have taste, or know the word “class”. I admit I am an overweight girl. But I am so more than that. Despite the fact that I am fat, I am smart, intelligent, and beautiful. People always tell me that I should loose weight. Yeah, maybe I should, so that men will see me. Then there goes my ego. Why should I change my physical appearance just so men can drool over me? I am a woman of intelligence and beauty. How does a man define the word ‘sexy’? Now that is a very good question. As for me, speaking as a woman, I would say that ‘sexy’ is someone who is smart, and can always carry a conversation whenever he/she goes to. Sexy means smart! I would be a hypocrite if I say that I don’t get lonely being single. Yes I do feel lonely at times; I can’t avoid the feeling of emptiness, not having anyone to cuddle to whenever it’s cold. But I can still manage certain things that doesn’t require cuddling, kissing or making out. And of course I want to feel the warmth of somebody holding you. Oh well, I’m single. Now a new question occurs, what is the fun part of being single? Well, I can answer in a very detailed manner! If I am in a talk show right now, I would be so fabulous in it and say “Being single is fun because you can always flirt around with guys, kiss anyone you want to, and sleep with the guy you want to without having a feeling that you are cheating with someone.” So in short being single is definitely fun. So you see, being single is fantabulous. And to all those single women like me, all you need to do is to make yourself busy, and have fun with all the things you do to forget the loneliness that you feel, in that way you will find peace in you. You will also learn how to value yourself and take care of it. Just look on the bright side of being single, “You Don’t Need To Find Happiness in Other People”. ~diwata~

A simple hug means you care. A simple gesture that may mean so many things, more than words a painting could give. When you feel low there is one thing that you need the most, it’s a hug. I was in a friend’s house searching on what we can do over the internet, then he asked me, ‘have you seen the video, “Free Hugs”?’ and I said ‘no I haven’t, and he said ‘you should watch it’. So we did. It’s a simple video that made me feel so emotional. A man have this sign that says “FREE HUGS” and out of nowhere people coming over to him and giving him a hug. It was fantastic! Until some people tried to stop it so they made a petition, and they gathered 10,000 signatures! Amazing! I wanna shed some tear, after realizing that ‘yeah everyone needs a hug!’ I remember the time when I was seeking attention, and feeling that I have no friends and such drama in life. And when I came into the office and our party place, I asked my friends ‘I need a hug!’ And they gave a hug. Then my world became bright again. To me those hugs that I have received that day made them say to me that everything is going to be all right. After that I was contented and went back to my old self. When everything comes tumbling down, just ask for a hug, or even if you don’t ask for it, if they know that you need it, you will receive some hug. This simple thing can mean the world to each and every one of us. It’s one essential thing that being ignored most of the time. We give and receive hugs, but we’ve never thought how deep it is. Sure we got some or give some, but what does it really mean? Three letters that contain profoundness. Poignant and loving, giving and receiving, sharing to one another the meaning of LOVE. We may be the simplest or poorest, the wealthiest or the most powerful person in the world, but there is one thing that money or power can’t give us, and that is a simple ‘Hug’.
